(Reuters) - An unprecedented debate over how the global Internet is governed is set to dominate a meeting of officials in Dubai next week, with many countries pushing to give a United Nations body broad regulatory powers even as the United States and others contend such a move could mean the end of the open Internet.

In a closed-door meeting this weekend in Dubai, the telecommunications arm of the United Nations -- the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) -- plans to seize a big role in Internet governance.

^ Agreed. What exactly are their reasons for having to regulate the internet? This is utter crap and a massive infringement on the last bastion of freedom of speech (which isn't even that free as it is).

I hope to f*** that people are going to stand up and protest this s***.

One of the articles up there gives a lot of good points about why s*** kicker countries want a bit of control over the Internet. They want to charge companies in other countries for sending data to their country, they are scared of the power the Internet gives people when they are such a piece of s*** weak government.
And I think the thing that nobody wants to point out is that most people that work in politics are c****, and not just c****, but stupid c****, and uneducated c****. You think politicians in QLD are f*****g stupid? Try one from Africa in a dress that believes gays eat the poo poo and that witches are real.

I am insulted that it is the UN doing this, and I am insulted they would do it in a culturally disgusting place like Dubai.

So should I prepare my spam filter for strongly worded letters from the UN?
