Amazing footage. Seems to be released because it has been presented as evidence in the high court.

I thought he was asian.

His name is Kim.com

----
I've read the story a million times, i understand what he owns, and how he's being charged, and what it means.

But i mean, i still believed he was asian just ONLY because he was named

OK so it's an illegal raid.

What happens to the people involved?

I mean if I stormed in on private property with a chopper and m4's and detained all these people, surely I would go to jail.

But because they work for the government, pretty much fuck all happens right... legal or illegal they can pretty much do any retarded shit they want?

No consequences, and they know it.

I haven't read anywhere that they considered him dangerous. Doesn't sound like he had any weapons or anything if they considered it a low risk.

Agree with someone above that NZ cops must have got all riled up by the FBI and tried to show them how hardcore they are.

At least wait until the preggo wife is out of the house. Fkn poor form.

Considering how wealthy he is it could have been a Kidnapping attempt or worse.
I wonder why he didnt lock the door to his panic room ?
He knew they were cops ?
Maybe he was tipped off it might happen.

If the warrant was illegal everything they found would be fruit of the poisonous tree ?

Pretty frightening for the children.

It strikes me very much like his team were aware that events like the ones pictured were going to happen and have had a very robust strategy to deal with all.. Eg Calmly goto the 'red room' and await arrest etc.. It surprises me that more of the house isn't cctv'd and that other footage hasn't come to light..

Still, conspiracy hat on.. It seems alot like team america world police with this and Assange.

How is this a robust strategy?

What does it achieve to be arrested in a certain room?

A robust strategy is that pits of fire open up and anyone that doesn't fall in is taken by the poison gas, meanwhile you are launching yourself in a rocket into space.

Sorry, I meant Legal Team. I presume he has his QC on retainer.. I guess they've imagined this scenario taking place.. Robust, as in his actions could be defend-able if tested in court.

Strangely enough people do think about this kind of stuff :)

If you watch the video he actually explains why he did it - to avoid startling police and getting shot. I think it is that is a pretty good strategy!

The video is fucking amazing. I didn't actually know they helicoptered in until recently and seeing the footage is amazing. The NZ police and govt should be ashamed of their complicity in this charade - what a staggering waste of taxpayer dollars. I have no reason to doubt what he said about being basically assaulted as part of the operation while he was complying as well, particularly based on the response of (what I assume was) one of the arresting officers.

read this - http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/01/kim-dotcom/

Kim Dotcom is hilarious.

What's interesting about that news report was that I read originally that when he was found, he was meters away from a shotgun and his security guard... yet that news report in the OP didn't mention that at all...

on the plus side, it looks like he's losing lots of weight in prison! Probably part of his robust strategy, juries don't like fatties.

The helicopters and guns were hilariously unnecessary, although I can see the need for this operation to be carried out with maximum speed.

While his voice is pretty cool, I had always imagined he sounded like Jim Sterling.
