It is believed two men, one of whom pulled a 'silver gun' according to one witness, were arguing outside the Sony Centre around 2pm.

Clearly one was an Xbox fanboy, the other PS3. Ban all consoles for the betterment of all man kind.

I spent the whole day at Robina today, the shopping centre was packed lots of dawdlers and slow arses, felt like shooting someone myself! Didn't know this happened though, must've got out before the lockdown because I had an appointment in another building. I was going to stay there and have some food, but I was running rate so I just got a bag of maccas at the food atrium and left.

Would help if you actually read the news link before frothing at the mouth:
The bikie, believed to be Jacques Teamo, owner of the East Coast Ink tattoo parlour which was shot up in an incident earlier this week, was shot in the shoulder by another bikie, believed to be a member of the Hells Angels.

Campbell Newman wants to make Gun Laws tougher ?

The problem was no civillians were armed and the Bikie knew that.
Open Carry Laws would have lead to this piece of trash being removed from Society.
Bikies are wankers, actually they arent really Bikies, just Drug Gangs.

I can see whats going to happen now.
Airport Scanners at Malls to make sure no weapons are brought in.

I know quite a few.

There is a giant shift in the way things have been in QLD for the last couple of decades at the moment, and these shootings are part of that I feel. Clubs moving to new areas still held by other clubs, clubs that previously have only been seen in the USA are now here and bike clubs that don't even require you to have a bike to become a member (ie : Notorious) are now on the move. From what I saw on SBS tonight, there is going to be a crackdown on tattoo shops with any bikie affiliation. That is about 90% of shops in Queensland. It going to be a wild ride ....

'Cause countries like the US that have those gun laws clearly have much fewer shootings due to this brilliantly intelligent form of a deterrent!
If only every single person carried a gun around at all times, then I'm sure there would be far far fewer shootings!!

Oh wait, the US has 4.14 gun-related homicides per 100,000 people per year and Australia only has 0.44... HOW COULD THIS BE ?

Also:
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."
http://www.abc4.com/mostpopular/story/conceal-and-carry-stabbing-salt-lake-city-smiths/NDNrL1gxeE2rsRhrWCM9dQ.cspx

Concealed carry, or CCW (carrying a concealed weapon), refers to the practice of carrying a handgun or other weapon in public in a concealed manner.

I see that, and raise you this:
Trayvon was shot dead on February 26 just yards from his home in Sanford, Florida by George Zimmerman, a trigger-happy neighborhood watchdog. Zimmerman claims that he feared Trayvon was an armed burglar on the prowl. In fact Trayvon was just walking home from a neighborhood store armed with nothing but his mobile phone, some skittles candy, and an iced tea.
The reason these facts are undisputed is that a number of eyewitnesses called 911 when they heard Trayvon crying out in despair as cop-wannabe Zimmerman was attempting to detain/arrest him. Indeed, that Trayvon could be heard crying “help, help” on the 911 tapes is what gives this case its heart-wrenching pathos. It is also what belies Zimmerman’s claim that he shot Trayvon in self-defense.

Whats the rate in Open Carry/Concealed Carry States ?
Almost exactly the same I assume, there's only one state in the US whose law prevents issuing right to carry licences (or 4 if you include those states that do not in practice even if it isn't law).

>Trayvon attacked Zimmerman.
Perhaps Trayvon provoked him though, we dont know the whole story coz its been politicised.

What a shock that you think there's some secret agenda behind the story that works in favour of your point of view. What about the 911 transcript, do you think that's been politicised as well?
Here is an excerpt from that damning 911 call:
Zimmerman: Hey we’ve had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there’s a real suspicious guy… This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy is he White, Black, or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks Black… These assholes they always get away… Shit he’s running…
Dispatcher: Are you following him?
Zimmerman: Yeah
Dispatcher: Ok, we don’t need you to do that.
Zimmerman: Ok… Fucking coons [aka "niggers" barely audible under his breath]….
(Mother Jones, March 18, 2012)
Of course, we now know that he lied. Because he continued following Trayvon in “hot pursuit” – as if he were in fact a police officer.

If you think America doesn't have a gun problem, then based on the irrefutable statistics you should think that Australia has even less of a gun problem. Maybe our gun laws are better after all ?

OK so just to summarise: you're now completely ignoring all the evidence that appears to refute what you originally said (that if we had gun carry licences the shooting would have been less likely) and are now arguing that the government shouldn't ban guns so that, on the off chance the government turns against us, we'll have weapons with which to rise up against them? Seriously?

Do you even listen to yourself when you talk ?

There's no point arguing against everything you say because you never change your opinion even slightly about anything ever (usually a good sign that a person isn't actually thinking critically about the things they're saying) so I'd just end up being here all day.
I just wanted to make sure that a balanced, opposing point of view was stated in the thread.

Have a great night FaceMan, keep on living in horrible crippling paranoid fear of everything everywhere, it sounds fun!

all I know is it's fucking difficult to let off more than 3 rounds at once.. haha as you can probably tell from my target.

also shot an m4a1 with red dot scope.. that was much easier to keep on target!
