Hah, what idiots. Yet the staff still hoarded everything they could, knowing stock was extremely limited.

Yet the staff still hoarded everything they could...

I'm still failing to see what everyone's problem with this really is.

If you worked there, wouldn't you?

Sure, it sucks if the store 'says they have two in stock' and the staff have both units 'on hold'... but seriously... these people are the first ones to lose out when they no longer have a job to go to (because of the losses they are making).

On another note, I'd consider 'first dibs' really a minimal payment for all of the ridiculous bullshit I've seen a lot of DSE staff on the receiving end of just locally in the last few days.

The real villain in all of this is the person that leaked the info early, not because they 'let the cat out of the bag'; but because a good portion of Australia seems to have got a hold of the same information, and there really wasn't loads of stock to be 'sold off'.

I went to the Mega Centre store at Springwood with my brother after I picked him up from work. Figured I could pick up a cheap Wii with the Wii Fit board for the missus birthday (she has wanted it for years).

Saw the list on here, and checked the DSE site and said they had some stock. So figured I'd give it a bash and see if I could get something. Got there at 8.20 after getting my brother who worked a graveyard and there was about 20 people at the front door... next 40 min was crazy, around 200 more people rocked up and joined the queue.

There wasn't much stock and alot of people had the printed lists in their hands. It was like going to QGL again with many poorly dressed and barely washed people that I tried to keep my distance from.

Store finally opened... some retards ran... great moment was when one head butted the door as he ran... much laughter. Walked in, found the display for the Wii, handed the display box to my brother and told him to go pay for it and I went outside and waited.

$128 for a black wii with wii fit & board. Good birthday present for the lady and no fuss on my behalf.

People were just crazy though, grabbing shit and being generally retarded. I didn't want to be near them, hence I grabbed what I was after and left.

Best amusements were watching people get shitty when things they wanted weren't on sale. "Well I don't want it then".

The DSE site was pretty clear on what they did or did not have and you could always call the day before. I didn't bother, but that is being nobody wants a Wii with a fitness game any more, only other person who purchased one was a young girl and there was still some left.

Closest I've ever been to a American style Black Friday shopping event and I don't wish to get any closer.... So many greedy people, one guy grabbed all the PSPs to himself, another grabbed 3 PS3s. Store didn't have any DSIs that I saw, but who knows, the guys who ran may have got them.

If I wanted a PS3 or Xbox360 I would not have gone, it was very obvious people were going for them and were not likely to do so in a decent manner.

If I was general sales staff? Yeah, probably. If I were a manager? Fuck no, and I wouldn't be letting my staff do it either.

If I were a manager I'd insist by staff bought it there; on the spot.

Removes it from the system, and reduces frustration and confusion...

NOT 'ohh, I'm holding this for my mate etc etc'.
And be damned if I'd let anyone 'buy all of an item'

I'd limit staff to one each, and I'd even ask customers if they wouldn't mind 'limiting themselves as others have queued to pick one up too'
(although I'd expect the crowd on the day to say 'no'; was a pretty disgusting display from a lot of customers that I saw...)
