Wow, there was talk about how he had been taking it easy during the heats. It appears that no, he was just swimming slow.

Kinda sad IMO to be so good at a sport, then retire only to come back making a big deal and fail. Geoff Huegill IIRC did a similar thing but didnt hype himself and was just proud to have lost weight and regained fitness - thats the proper attitude.
