Eorl he came back. Heard him on the radio friday morning talking how he will be going to London etc before he even swam in fridays comp. I hoped when I heard him talking baout how he was so great that he would fail. He did. I laughed.
it's worth remembering the guy can still swim like a freak, just not an olympic level freak anymore
everyone will get over the 'wasted' money, that was a risk they no doubt weighed up and like everyone else they were wrong about it.
Wow, there was talk about how he had been taking it easy during the heats. It appears that no, he was just swimming slow.
Kinda sad IMO to be so good at a sport, then retire only to come back making a big deal and fail. Geoff Huegill IIRC did a similar thing but didnt hype himself and was just proud to have lost weight and regained fitness - thats the proper attitude.
My nephew is down swimming in Adelaide atm, he said Thorpe just isn't fit enough, really short training and comeback period.....never really had a chance. None of the other swimmers there really considered he could make a final, its just a bunch of media hype.
