I wish i could i spend my whole day wearing a tent as clothing, running and twirling around in a park laughing hysterically like i have a mental illness.

Update: It just had on 7 news that the red headed tent monster in the video is claiming she was sexually assaulted because 4 police officers cut the tent off her and she only had underwear on underneath.

Heres the video of her being stripped http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAkUB7jRb2c

Here she is screaming "OMG SEXUAL ASSAULT" at the police and arguing with them http://youtu.be/XSq6tPXJHZ4?t=1m20s

"omg you tore my clothes off" pro tip, a tent isn't clothing.

I was in Flagstaff Gardens for a work lunch on Friday, and had to wade past these guys - man it's a joke. It's 30 people camped out in tents opposite the family court. They look more deluded and homeless than organised.

Completely nothing. They are unemployed hipsters from melbourne who have found a new hobby of sitting in parks and complaining about people who earn a living.

They don't want to work for money, they want socialism.

It's funny you mention that, I was talking to a collegue today about this. I don't know about the Melbourne protest but at least in New York, people seem to be protesting completely arbitrary things and I can't really work out what they hope to achieve apart from attention seeking.

Guy at work was planning to go up and ask them so if he does, I'll report back as we work just around the corner from this and have to pass them everyday to and from work.

That's my opinion of the US protests as well. As for the Australian ones, I think it's even worse than that. These guys seem to have absolutely no idea what they are doing. It's just a silly game for a bunch of hippies.

I'm not a big fan of what is going with these characters either, but I think as silly as it may be that a wearable type tent might be classified as clothing if push came to shove! :)

Clothing refers to any covering for the human body that is worn

The police should have just admitted that they had lost that one, and that it was funny that people were wearing tents to tease them.

From my extensive legal knowledge (us tv shows) calling the police in an event like this would mean you have the 000 calling as a record "omg a mob is stripping a women in the middle of the park!!! Come quick!!!"

watching that first video, (even with the dick head speaking) it seemed all in good fun,

cops rock up to remove tents,
spacemonkeys!!!!!
weeee, look we is wearing tents, (cops go, oh dang, thats a good one, and start to leave)
tents run around, and up to cops

missing footage that could explain the change in tempo, and mood

cops remove tent, and it all turns to shit for the cops

I can't help but feel that (after all there were more than one tent wearing hippy) that this woman might have pushed the caper toooo far and the cop reacted, (maybe she got a little too in their face, and taunted a little too much) why else would the police who (in the first video) were leaving reacting this way?

Did she tell them that she wasn't wearing anything except underwear under the tent? Probably not.

To put her into the back of a police car? To free her arms to restrain her with handcuffs? To make positive identification using unique body features (scarring/tattoo's/etc) there are a couple of reasons Vash.

Looks that way to me. Seems like it was all fun and games, and the cops looked like they were cool with it and started to leave, but the hippies pushed their luck and followed them and probably antagonised them. Then the cops were like "fuck this shit" and removed the tents. So hippies cry fowl.

I get the Occupy Wall Street movement in USA, as they have a pretty corrupt and messed up system, but they're going the wrong way about it. I dunno why it's in Australia. I think we're pretty good here.

I remember going to a soccer match in England and there were a group of hooligans screaming and shouting in front of a police car, they were politely asked to move on several times, then out came the truncheons, they got a fairly solid whack each to the fleshy part of their arm's and then they moved on.

Should also note that the day before I moved back here from England I was in the middle of town with a guy that was wagging school, one of the policemen asked why we weren't in school, bought us an icecream each and paid for my friend to jump on the bus to the school out of his own pocket and walked with me talking about the Roman walls that surrounds the city I lived in.

They're the reason this type of crap is tollerated in the first place. If the police could make a few examples out of the protestors this whole thing could be wrapped up in a few minutes.

Tolerated? I think you should look that word up because being arrested and having to front court wouldn't be my definition of the word.

They are attention seekers, the best way to deal with them is ignore them and not to make a big deal out of their antics.

yeah, how dare they dress up in tents and go to a public place and laugh like crazy people... i am so very offended we should bash them.

we need a special sort of police beatings for people that are just slightly out side the norm in a compleatly benign and unhurtful way.

are we happy with the cops being the fashion police? if they aren't doing anything WRONG (short of being mildly irritating like a traffic jam. ) what rights do the police have to remove the persons costume? sure, charge them with "disturbing the piece", but stripping someone, in public, is just unacceptable regardless of how "different" that person is dressed.

its a sad day when you lot are cheering on unlawful actions of the police because the other group are unpopular.

er, perhaps that protests are illegal and not protected in Australia? seems like a good enough "cause" to me. you know, get things ready for when we actually have a real grievance against the government so they don't just lock us all up?

but we don't need that sort of protection in Australia, the western world isn't like those arab countries.... which is why the US government is seeking approval to use military force against the occupy wall street protesters.

You sure you aren't crazy?

Out of context what was done may seem disproportionate. But so do many things when things are taken out of context.

An order was given for people to do something. One person decided to be a defiant child and suffered the consequences.
That same petulant (20yo) child then fronted up to a court with the same attitude wearing that bullshit tent.

I would expect that sort of behaviour from a boundary testing toddler. Not a 20yo 'woman'. The fact that she fronted up to court again trying to be defiant speaks volumes for the bullshit she probably pulled leading up to having that tent taken from her as well.

Pull the lions' tail and expect to get bitten.

Most of the populace aren't stupid enough to pull the tail in the first place.

That protesting video in the US showing what *really* happened with surrounding the police etc. just goes exactly to show what sort of crazy shit these people can incite as a mob. And then not even have the intelligence to be aware of what consequences their actions are having, sort of like a child really.

Sweet trolling, lateral.

You are just one of those people that pops their head up and says the opposite of whatever everyone else says just to be different.

If everyone was in here saying the police were behaving unlawfully and need to be punished I swear you'd be all, "Just arrest her and call it a day."

They are clearly being provacative which undermines the authority of the police which can have far-reaching consequences. I applaud action by the police.

I notice that the audio of the dickhead holding the camera in the first vid in the OP has now been removed. I wonder why? No I don't - because he's a dickhead, and maybe he realised he was a dickhead and should remove his dickhead voice from the video because it seriously affects his ability to try to garner public support for his dickheadedness.

I had to sneak one more in for effect, you know? Repetition; it's classic marketing 101. It was as toss-up between 'dickheadedness' and 'dickheadsationalism', but the former won.

Hindsight is 20/20, but it's clear you're not allowed to camp in the area by law. If you are in a tent, you are clearly camping. A court of law would accept that. Were I an officer I would arrest the offenders and having realised I was unable to get them into a divisional van I would walk them by foot to the closest police station.

First thing they do when they put you in the lock-up for the night is remove your clothes and personal items.
