Uhm. It's all hazy and smokey here too, only I'm at the bottom end of the Gold Coast (Burleigh Heads). Has there been a big bushfire or something?

Don't think I can see beyond about... 1k, from my place. |
Burn offs. The usual for a summer.
|
it also doesn't help that the wind is blowing it around the city, and not away from the city (it also is dry, so there is a bit of dust in that too)
|
It's the same on the gold coast - I think it's just heat haze
|
Thats the smoke from the extinguished flame of the Dragon that was slain last night.
|
Nope, not heat haze... go outside dude, you'll smell the smoke.

Apparently a few of the Burn-offs (and Permit fires) got a little out of hand.
Woops! |
On the topic of smoke and fire, my house nearly burned down last night!
I wasn't home, but got a call from family early in the morning saying there had been a fire so I went home not knowing what to expect. It was our back shed, which somehow burst into flames at 4am in the morning. It lit up the side fence, and took out a bunch of my clothes hanging on the line, and was pretty close to the house (shed isn't far from the back patio). The people home didn't even know until the neighbours came knocking on the door, the fire brigade, police and ambulance showed up. They couldn't find a cause, there was machinery in the shed but it's only connected via an extension cord to the house which was turned off and un-plugged. The whole shed and it's contents is lost, the side fence will need to be replaced, and all my work shirts were melted/burnt. Could've been a lot worse though so I'm thankful that that's all it was. |
Holy s*** man - glad to hear it wasn't worse.
Probably a good reminder to everyone to check their smoke alarms are currently working. |
That was an awesome sunset, anyone get pics ?
Hey krowbar the Police were in the media last week claiming that Criminals were breaking in to a lot of Sheds now to score expensive power tools. Maybe you had a break in ? |
...had a break in and then they set fire to the shed...
skeptical |
Hazy where I am too today. Afternoon sun was orange, looked cool.
|
My allergies have been f*****g haywire all day :(
|
Dayboro was THICK in it today as well. Dayboro Rural were mostly deployed. My station (Narangba) got a call out as well.
|
...had a break in and then they set fire to the shed... Rapid escalation? |
some weather dude on the radio this morning was saying that it is a high pressure system that's gonna be hanging round until about wednesday. apparently its creating a 'lid' for this smoke & heat. apparently.
|
F*****g making my eyes/throat/nose/ears go haywire!
|
and the smoke is back today Council and Rural teams are doing more back buring today. |
Its worse today, at least on the Northside, i can smell it in my Dungeon.
|
