nothing special to the car (aside from making sure its safe). Main things scrutineers look at are loose batteries or other items that could cause a fire like dodgy fuel system installs, exposed wiring.
As far as you go, you need neck->ankle->wrist clothing (long sleeve shirt, long pants) and a helmet that means AS/NZ 1690 standards.
Also recommend overfilling your oil by about half a litre and doing a flush of your brake fluid before the track day.
yay good on ya pave for making this thread + actually driving your car
supp fnukle! will be racing the 1st championship round on march31/1 april at QR! should be awesome! might squeeze one test day in beforehand at QR, but not driving lakeside again for a while now
heres a video of my car being chased by my mates s13 from the topgear race last weekend
Can't believe I haven't seen you on a real deal track yet, geez I'm slack.
I'll be there no doubt Cal, let me know if you head out earlier as well.
Hehe old mate orange needs a rangie :P
You're really getting power into those rear wheels, like driving the super v8s in Forza lol
Also, got flame!? That was a biggie :)
man i would love to take the supra there but I dont think it would be up to it atm.. with the tires and steering i have there is no way i could drive it like you guys, my shit would be loose as a goose.. its pretty bad on the mountains as it is.
haha yes oldmate in the commo is an experienced race driver (we're all noobs) really shoved his nose through... then went too deep at hungry > offroading lol. (he was on street tyres.. but very light and powerful, good equaliser)
dont make excuses about why your car isnt ready!
just, make sure its full of coolant, fresh brake fluid, at least 4mm of pad.. whichever tyres youv got are fine. the less grippy your tyres, the more you learn about car control.
65sec or quicker on street tyres / no aero is a quick time for LS for a turbo car like ours.
i'm keeping seperate tyres simply because i don't plan on destroying and paying for tyres constantly to just use 1 set of rims for street and track use. I drive my car every day to work etc
Think of QR as that slightly trashy chick you pick up at a nightclub. You can pretty much do anything to her and get away with it.
Then think of Lakeside as Gina Carano. She is hotter and more fun, but if you don't treat her with respect, she will fuck you up and slam your head into a wall.
I don't think I've been to a track day at Lakeside where at least 1 car hasn't come to some sort of grief (some a lot worse than others).

yeah, because my 380hp FWD barge is going to be so tight around the corners :P

My car's ready,
fresh gearbox built
new rear rotors + pads + bearings
fresh oil on the dipstick
it's me who's not. :) Do they let people who were in the previous runs have preference? or is it every man for himself? I was sort of hoping to wait until may/june
you're only going to kill yourself if you drive like a dick
one of the track days i went to with my r32 a couple of years ago at QR, i was second in line to go out in the first session of the morning. some honda clown in front of me in an integra, obviously went out way too hard on cold tyres and goes into the kitty litter on turn 2
we all have to wait for like 15 mins while the recovery vehicle thing goes out and drags him back to the pits
dipshit stuff like that will get you killed (more likely your car dinged up) luckily it's pretty hard to hit a wall at qr wihtout doing something really fucking stupid
ive been on the Federal 595RSR's for a few years. They are a nice tyre, but still a blend of road tyre and semi slick. Trying to save up some coin to get a set of the Federal FZ201's. Proper semi slick that should be worth 1-2 seconds a lap.
i love lakeside, (nice time scooby, I never cracked a 60sec, however I have done a 1:32.......on wooden spoke'd wheels (and that makes you sweat, grow hairy palms, and leave brown trace in your daks)
you mean hungry corner pave :] the one corner where you can have a proper crack because theres not an immediate wall threatening you. nice friendly bumpy grass.
fastest way is brake in a straight line, dont need mega trailbrake because the incline grips up the fronts nice and early, then on the gas early and feed it as much as it will take + be ready to countersteer over the camberchange.

The last time I went to wanneroo the guy in front of me was on his first lap out and spun it over the hill (we do the short track) so I came over the hill to find this guy facing the wrong way and wondering wtf is he going to do next. The next time out I'm on the track at the same time as this bloke again and he proceeds to bin it in the last corner before the straight... 15 min wait while he gets retrieved from the dirt etc.
The first time I went out on the track I was just concentrating on learning the track, then the car, then my (in)ability as a driver - in that order. Why do some idiots think they are Vettel the first time out?
after hungry corner and into eastern loop i now realise i was doing all wrong, i knew you had to stick in tight around the loop but i didn't realise it was straight out of hungry and stick to the right
