so much for the theory that BMW just gave it to him to drive around in
there is a slight possibility he got rid of it to avoid having it confiscated, 3 strike hoon law and all that
get your car impounded twice and the next time it's gone for good
http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=54546
In Queensland, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 allows members of the Queensland Police to impound the vehicles involved in proscribed offences.[16] The laws relating to confiscation of vehicles for offences such as street racing, time trials and burnouts were strengthened in 2002. Further laws introduced in July 2008 provided for the confiscation of vehicles for repeat offenders involved with drunk driving, driving while suspended or driving with illegal modifications. Offenders can lose their vehicle for 48 hours for the first repeat offence, up to three months for a second repeat offence, or permanently for a third repeat offence. On 11 August 2008, a number of confiscated vehicles were auctioned by the government, The remainder were crushed and sold as scrap metal.[17]

How do you know it's his... is it the plates?
Those photos look like they've been taken at house rather the the usual pickles photos of the cars in a workshop type environment - Seems odd, or can anyone sent their car to pickles, as mentioned I thought they just did government and ex-lease cars.
Also it says it's not registered but still has personalised plates on... who would by that knowing he used to own it? I guess some wierdos would.
They are probably in damage control, hence him getting rid off so he doesn't attract further attention.
Also the interior looks pretty meh.

Total crime! how will he ever impress women with his manliness in an auto? :O
on a side note, this isn't 1996.... bmw automatics are faster and more fuel efficient than manuals these days.

at 19, and a (possible) hoon, it is a little funny to get a "sports" car, and then spec an auto,
it would be like getting a lotus, and asking for an auto imo

Wouldnt BMWM3 have a manual option or sports mode? So it wouldnt matter if its an auto.

lol wot, are you fucking trolling?? that auto would smash a manual.
personally I love that car, love the colour, nice contrast with the black lip and other accents (especially the black wheels). Interior looks meh in that photo because of the flash, in person it would look beautiful.
It's an awesome car for a 17 year old, I highly doubt you haters would say no to this car if it was given to you.

You're probably right, although the overall shape doesn't look that great either but I'd really have to see it in person as photos are never a good indicator.

While I wouldn't say no, I would take it, then sell it and buy a normal 3 series coupe and use the change for hookers and blow. I much prefer the earlier M3's when they were difficult to tell apart from the standard model - I like understatement. These new ones, while no doubt an awesome car, are too flashy and I really question wether anyone needs the extra performance the M3 offers, over the standard models in Australian conditions - so I just find them to be a wankers mobile.
Anyway, each to their own.

I would buy a black 135i and go to town on it, big single turbo and ridiculous exhaust (but keep it incredibly quiet)
it would be trivial to give a 135i a lot more power than an m3 with the left over cash

But a C63 AMG looks even better than any M3, so yeah.

Dual clutch auto's (DCT/DSG/PDK) are faster than stick. Welcome to the future.
Also that's a shit hot car, but, 135i + JB4 piggyback tune + high flow cats = M3 duster. Unless you want 4 doors.

sure you can make any base car go faster than the hero cars, but the fact is, it will never be an M3, and it'll never have a sweet high revving V8.

a best M3 were all 6 potters, and unlikely the next M3 will be a V8, it could be a turbo (not really an issue) V6 (a V6 in a BMW, surely a sign the end of the world is coming)

Serious question - what kind of conditions would this extra performance be good to have for?

From what ive heard, he had this for sale before all the bs happened with the cops. Apparently he is selling it cause he is buying an Audi R8 when he moves to Monaco this year. Something like that.
It's nice, pity it's a gay auto. I was drooling over a black one this morning, so tempting :( Although the 135 M is fucking hot!! It would be a weapon against the M3, would be hard to choose. Really want to test drive one!

4 door 3 series ftl sorry orbs
the 2 door 5 class Audi's also look tits as does a 2 door E class merc
that stretched body with the 2 doors is just sick. a door 335i would do me nicely as my next car if i didn't buy a gtr of some kind - depending on my money situation at the time whenever i come to buy next.
4 door snore

I will say this much, this is a car that is more capable than both most drivers, and will never be used with-in 10% of it's full abilities,
this is when a manual can make the car more fun (more involving)
this is also a car that makes a wooden footed one armed man look like a skilled driver,

fyi, some of the driving aids
"The variable M differential lock on the new BMW M3 Coupé.
A little extra traction can make all the difference, and the torque-sensitive, variable M differential lock identifies exactly when traction is needed. Even when wheel grip varies enormously, such as on bends taken at high speed, roadholding remains excellent as the locking power between the left and right rear wheels can be raised to 100%. Drivers who expect the most from their cars know what this feature delivers: it optimises handling, improves safety and enhances the thrust provided by the BMW M3 Coupé's rear-wheel drive."
this means it kinda acts like a rear steer, only much cooler, I have heard it referred to as "the hand of god", you can steer at a much high speed, and with lower skill than a pro driver with out that diff
"Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) on the BMW M3 Coupé.
The DSC system prevents loss of roadholding in extreme situations. When activated, it stops the vehicle from veering off track by applying the brakes to those wheels which keep it on course. Together with the M Dynamic Mode, DSC gives your sports ambitions free rein as drive slip for both longitudinal and transverse dynamics increases at all speed levels. And the optional Electronic Damper Control system, with three different settings, is perfectly matched to the BMW M3 Coupé to provide an unbridled driving experience."
making the ham fisted look smooth, with-out this, most drivers would die in a fireball at the end of the track
it isn't a matter of ABS and thats it, there is alot of electrickery in this, and smart tech, all the make it easier to drive fast, skill is less and less of a factor
