In January we moved the JDMST EOMM meet to Queensland Raceway, away from prying eyes, we also re-named it DownshiftxJDMST. After a few chats with Neil who was our contact from Queensland Raceway, we decided lighting up the short track would be our best bet. Being able to hold around 350 cars, which in our minds was easily enough to cater for the usual crowds at the monthly meets. However when the night rolled around and the gates opened, the cars did not stop coming.

700+ car turnout was enough to warrant the Queensland Raceway officials to state that “those are the longest car queues to get in to an event we have ever seen”. This coming from the officials who deal with Powercruise, Jamboree and V8 Supercars year in and year out. Honestly we were all completely and utterly blown away by it. Never in a million years did we think we would get those sort of numbers at a car meet, ever. That is the same figures that you see at the likes of Hellaflush, WekFest and Eibach meets in America. For that you all should be proud.

It is that time of month again, the DownshiftxJDMST meet is back on, once again being held at Queensland Raceway. We have got a far better contingency plan this time and are even throwing together some actual Gymkhana for the few who manage to get there money in first and have a go. The more you guys support these meets, the bigger we can grow them and the more Queensland Raceway will let us do, at this rate we will have full track access in no time.

I went to the January one. My mate is a photographer/Writer for Downshift and holy fuck. Talk about some cars.

Sounds like a gathering of many good cars, some shit ones and an extremely high ratio of fuckwits to normal people.

If your heading out the police have a speed camera just before the 80k zone at willowbank village.

Its gonna get smashed by cops. This week has not been kind to car meeting places.

the group at downshift and JDMST are normally very well behaved.

The boost crusing guys are the ones that talk shit and start stuff, basically boost is the marsden of the car scene.

There's a p plater with a supra that looks just like yours rdizz, but his is non turbo, he always tries to drag me on browns plains road near the police station, I think he's fucked up some of hiss mods because I flog him until I get to the speed limit then off he goes (cressida with 7mge)

i understand, but its not for everyone.

I can see to some there is no point in having a very nice, clean car and only drive it to and from events(sometimes even on a towed to) then its sits in a garage until next time.

I personally don't like it but its a part of the scene.
like those low n slow comps, i don't understand the point of making your car unpractical low, then trying to drive over a little dip to while fucking up your bodywork, but its your money.

The guy in the VW was watching the drifters and said he would show them how its done!

He came in way to fast, hand braked and nothing happened so he hit the brakes and understeered into the wall then shed. Wrote the car off and had to pay to fix the shed!
