Mean while in Brisbane we wait 30 fucking minutes if we miss a train. I demand 10 min intervals at least!

When I worked in Sydney a couple of years back it was great. New there would be a train to the airport every 10 minutes or so any time of day/evening. Never even bothered checking the rail schedule. Main reason was the airport service was also a service to major Sydney suburbs, it wasn't purely an airport train.

Brisbane rail services are fkn terrible though in general.

Melbourne <> Sydney apparently busiest domestic route. I laugh at Melbourne's inability to build a city <> airport rail. What a joke. And we won most liveable city in the world.

10pm for the airtrain is still a fucking joke! Last train into the city should be 2am.

Why exactly is it a joke Caveboy??? Most trains around that time of night are almost completely empty... there's no money in running empty trains just for the sake of carrying a half dozen passengers around, hence why we don't have a 24/7 transport system.

Having said that, what IS a joke is that we can't have trains and buses running at all hours Friday and Saturday nights.

Because we don't have this

Increase reliability and decrease wait time = increase patronage.

there shouldn't be too many reasons to have to catch the train out to the domestic at that time. it's more for the return trip to drop people into the city and i suppose international flights.

The joke is that the last train from the airport currently departs at 8pm, 7 days of the week.

Considering how busy the airport is at 1am every night due to a Emerites flight landing at about 12.30ish and departing at 3am, its crazy that the train does not service these flights and others.

Sure the train would be running at a massive loss but I think its kinda important for an half decent sized city to have public transport servicing all flights from an international airport.

Right now if you flight lands after 8pm its the odd shuttle bus or a cab.

it would put all those cabbies running to and from the airport all day out of work.

it was cheaper for me and my ex to drive, park and leave my car in the carpark over a weekend away than it was to catch the air train both ways for two us, plus we had to get someone to take us to the train station and pick us up afterward as well. wasn't worth it

I've taken the air train from brisbane to the 'port a few times, but if i'm going with more than myself, like a GF or family, then it's always a taxi.

Taxi is faster and cheaper when more than 1 or more than carry on luggage.

I don't know how they charge so much.

The problem is the airtrain line is not part of the public transit network, it's privately owned, so running anytime it won't be full is not an option... which is retarded.
