This is such a boring video. I watched it the other day on reddit where it had been relatively highly upvoted. All I could think was wow who would find this enjoying and second who would find it so enjoying they felt the need to share it with anyone else.

I like the rule they have going from Brisbane to the north coast, get into the right lane only to over take....trick is, you just keep speeding all the way to and from and most people get it.
the right lane is my kinda lane, if you aren't doing 10%+ over the speed limit you shouldn't be in the right lane
Unfortunately that's pretty much the gist of it.
I was on the road this weekend just past and my speedometer said 120km/h. I was consistently overtaking people who were in the left lane. Went through one of those 'speed check' devices and the read-out was 108km/h. *shrug* Don't know whether to trust my speedometer or the laserz.
the amount that even your tyre heat can effect the size of the tyre is rather large, and any effect in the size changes the speedo's reading,
same goes for PSI, and tyre wear,
as someone who has done alot of driving in the past, i learnt that cruise control, and GPS speed reading is a good combo, but after 3 hours on driving the speedo might still read ""110"", but the speed as per the GPS as differed 12kph, the effect change is greater the larger the wheel, (ford tranist van it would change 22kph)
at least in victora you have proper speedo checkers, unlike the imo stupid 5km speedo checker we have here

Most manufacturers over read your speed on the speedo - comes out of the final drive cog of the gearbox so it can't take into account wheel sizes (like above). Easier for them to under read, and then offer bigger rims and shit for options without having to change any kind of car stuffs.
Though technically they're only allowed to over read a max of 10%. So 100kph could be like 91kph for reals.
I've noticed mine is nearly 100% spot on though :(.
If the slow lane were to end, and force merge to the right with a new fast lane opening, say every 2 kilometres, it would solve this problem. (i.e. so slow people in the fast lane are automatically placed in the slow lane every 2 kilometres).
karmadelik, half the reason people stay in the far lane (fast lane) is they can't deal with merging, the logic often spouted in the many times this has been raised on talk back radio is they are doing the speed limit, so no one should be going faster than them, also they don't like having to deal with constant lane changes
also in QLD, i'm pretty sure the keep left unless overtaking is not a 100% enforceable law, however overtaking on the left, massive no-no
i've been overtaken on the left on a 1 lane road, because I was driving slowly looking for an address, and I found it and started to pull off the road without realising someone was riding the shoulder to overtake me. Was a close one. But since then I make sure to drive closer to the left to prevent this from happening again.
you are only allowed to overtake on the left if traffic is stopped, and turning right
was going over this with a coper mate of mine (it started as a chat about lane spitting on bikes' and some of the changes of late)
over taking on the left in QLD, is a fine able offence atm
road rules change all the time, like 10years ago, by law you had to have your motorbikes headlight automatically turn on when you started the bike, it changed a few years after that to making sure it was on when moving, and now, you dont have to have it on unless it is dark
My point/logic was that the people that generally sit in the right lane going slow are shit drivers. Forcing shit drivers to merge every 2km is going to cause a lot more slow points.
I'm not sure what 'packed moto' you're refering to, but on the Pac Motorway going south in peak hour is hell because there are a lot of merges and people either scoot up the left then try to sneak in (breaking heavily to merge into the slower lane) or they dont leave a gap, thus having to break heavily as a car needs to merge into their lane. There are a lot of people (I would say a significant amount, if not the majority) that can't seem to (or are unwilling to) match speeds, leave gaps and merge smoothly.
Having to do that every 2km would destroy traffic flow.
From what I understood of his post, he said it's a finable offence to overtake on the left unless 'traffic is stopped, and turning right'
Which isn't correct.
In the context of this thread I was under the assumption that we were talking about multi-lane roads.
