Hey anyone here in the know regarding child seats in 2 seater cars? My 350Z has a child seat anchor point for the passenger seat. Rearward facing seats for say newborns is a big no no due to the airbag but forward facing?

all good, sorry for wasting ya time but I found what I'm looking for:

If the car has one row of seats only (for example, a ute):
•a child of any age can sit in the front seat if the vehicle has only one row of seats provided they are properly restrained.

This is what it says regarding rearward facing seats. Funny how it says "should not" and not a definite "NO!".

If the vehicle has a passenger airbag fitted, a rearward facing child restraint should not be used.

why we dont do it the euro way is beyond me

alot of "sport" cars, 2+2 have a key that enables you to turn the airbag off

sadly it is technical illegal to do so, (switching an airbag off, while there is a ""suitable"" back seat is a big no no, but then again it is also illegal to have someone in a wheelchair, they have to move to a secure and adr test seat (no wheelchair has been tested and passed ADR, because in theory to pass it need to be tested in every car that it could be used in

WTF do you think should means ?

It's an auxiliary verb used to indicate duty.

Can not, implies an inability. ie. incorrect because you can.
Will not, implies a willingness obviously by your desire incorrect.

Thus "should not" is correct as is "must not".

I don't care if people get grammar wrong cos I am fucking useless at grammar, but don't go round correcting people. Yes that is hypocritical of me, but it fucking annoys me when people correct me with incorrect grammar. (ie. I didn't start the fire!)

A little bub's neck would get snapped like a twig if you break hard / hit something if his seat is forward-facing. Hence the first line from the linky:
Babies aged 0 to six months must be secured in an approved rearward facing baby capsule or infant restraint that is properly fastened and adjusted.
...I wouldn't feel safe having my little dude facing forward (even if I drove a sports car). :|

Yeah, forward facing a baby is just retarded. Then again, seen many 17 year old mums with them facing forward. Was just like "you don't deserve a child, let alone the will to live".

Obes; We have heaps of legal land jargon for ambulatory (River) boundaries.

We have 'Should Not' or 'Should [insert task]' means you should follow it, not that you have to.
Where it says 'Must' is when you have to do it exactly to the letter of the law.

In this context, I don't think you could get in trouble, legally, with a forward facing seat. Yes, it's stupid, but it's not illegal... yet.

There are many many occasions where I would ride for ages, standing on the Land Cruiser side steps and holding onto the roof racks. Could barely reach the roof racks and was up on my tip-toes. Drove past the cops on Fraser island doing this once and they didn't even bat an eyelid.
You would get fined these days and probably given an RBT.
