Would be much faster if they were just allowed to shut down the road and get it done. Unfortunately people would rather go through road works, then have to take a detour, even if it takes the same amount of time.
So the job takes 3 times as long and costs 4 times as much.
Sounds like jmr doesn't know how to follow directional sine-age.

I've often wondered if you can get fined for driving the normal speed limit in "road work" zones when there's no road work going on. I swear half the signs telling you to slow down have nothing happening down the road anyway..

Digging up and replacing drains I'm guessing.
And by the look of things they'll be replacing all of the road (going by the all the spray painting lines now on there) which will suck hard because detouring around it takes forever.

On a side note its awesome that they're calling it the Moorak St Upgrade and reducing it from 2 functioning lanes necessary to cope with the traffic it gets to one... I wouldnt be swapping my computer for a 486 and be callin it an upgrade? Pissing on the locals without the courtesy to call it rain imho

they are probably just doing some stormwater drainage upgrades or fixing watermain etc

The upgrade will involve the following changes:

The right turn from Moorak Street to Walker Street will be controlled by a turning arrow.

The left turn from Walker Street to Moorak Street will be controlled by a turning arrow.An additional signalised pedestrian crossing will be installed on the northern and western sides of the intersection.Parking restrictions will be in place in the streets surrounding the intersection, enabling it to operate safely and effectively
*
Traffic will no longer be able to turn left from Moorak Street into Montrose Road
*
A u-turn facility will be installed in Montrose Road to provide access for cars only |
