Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi producing, so should be the goods.
There's a lot of negativity around this release i.e. it will automatically be shit cos it's a remake and the original is unmatchable etc.
I actually hope that it will be kickass and silence the critics because while I am a huge fan of the Evil Dead series I am actually looking forward to seeing where they take this (female protagonist, modern horror efx etc).
i am nervous. at least it has some good people attached, but yer, it didnt look like it had the "feel" of the original series, which was horror/comedy (in my book)
Ehhh, I still don't think it will be as "Evil Dead" as the original two. They were humour horror, though that might be because of the time that they were filmed, but they still had this unique twist. This just seems like an overuse of fake blood, traumatic scenes and some edgy horror. Also Bruce Campbell made the Evil Dead what it was, so without him actually being a character it just feels like something is missing.
I'll watch it though, just don't have high hopes for it to be good. I got a vibe that it will be just like the recent remakes, but without what made the original special.
Also Bruce Campbell made the Evil Dead what it was ...
THANK YOU, finally someone bring some sense to the conversation!
It's not that it 'can't be good', I just don't think it'll measure up against the original for a number of reasons. If there's nothing else that James Cameron or Disney has taught me about movies, it's that a bigger budget doesn't equate to a better movie!
Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror.
so whoever the hell this wench was in the trailer is ash
I like army of darkness the most although it's really a completely different sort of movie to the first two.
Wasn't Evil Dead 2 effectively a remake of Evil Dead but with more comedy.
I must be the only person on the planet that loves it when they reboot films... It's much better then when Disney makes 7 different films with different names all with the same storyline...

yup. the original evil dead movie was really crap. so crap it was funny. it was just another 80s d-grade horror movie until it got a cultish following because of how crap it was. the demonic possession scenes were ludicrous with actors thrashing about while people just out of shot threw buckets of tomato sauce & custard at them.
