A Touch of Cloth is a spoof detective comedy-drama created and written by Charlie Brooker and Daniel Maier.
It stars John Hannah and Suranne Jones, and features Julian Rhind-Tutt. A Touch of Cloth is a parody of British detective and crime dramas, with the plot based on a story by Messiah novelist Boris Starling.
Watching this at the moment and having a good laugh. The humour is very Mel Brooks/Naked Gun - plenty of dumb gags, wordplay, etc. Written by Charlie Brooker who writes for The Guardian and a whole bunch of other stuff. Only 1 episode in so far, but worth a look.
Just finished the first ep and fuck me it was hilarious. It's like watching something like The Bill, but a Naked Gun version. Only bad thing is there are only two eps out atm.
yeah it was good, but I'm guessing I probably missed a lot of puns
plus English accents are hard enough to understand without then having to put it together in your head that they're making an English accent joke, like "Datdere yute club" - took me a while to get that he was in fact saying real words but in a completely retarded accent. Especially since Datdere sounds like a perfectly normal English name, and yute sounds like some kind of sport british people would probably be in to.
Started off really good but it kind of lost me about half way through, about when they found the chefs body and kept repeatedly showing the body. It just didn't seem as funny after that.. Hope ep 2 is back on track.
