At some point in 2012, it will become impossible for producers to create a new, original dubstep track. It won't be for lack of creativity or trying. But there are only so many ways to arrange female vocals, a wobbly bass, and a huge drop. And we as a society are fast approaching these limits.
I simply don't understand dubstep. Like, I don't understand what makes something dubstep.
I try to listen to examples of people posting it and all I hear is noise. So I invariably go back to listening to Queen, Michael Jackson, and ... uhh... Nickelback.

it is more like 140bpm
and that is really all it is if you want to be completely definitive
the sounds that skrillex makes or anyone else is purely their own thing - because people don't know what dubstep is they associate skrillex's harsh sound (forgetting about the baseline) = dubstep
I wouldve said traditionally dubstep is actually a lot slower than dance music, prolly around 100bpm, but I have an older definition of dubstep than wubwubwub. I would argue it's more defined by its beat than the heavy basslines people know today.
In retrospect, maybe we're saying the same thing but defining the time signature differently.
I'm not as fond of Skrillex as I use to, he has one or two nice catchy songs but I much prefer Nero, UKF or Klaypex just because they are a lot less seizure inducing and comparatively slower.
Yeah I dunno what is dubstep, but when I hear it, I just think of some fucking loser sitting around with a sound editing program listening to Skrillex and thinking "cha-ching.. i can just copy this shit!"
nah it's 140bpm, there is also a bit of an inbetween 130~ ish sound people create
it's amazing the difference just a small deviation from the standard 128 makes
that new track is a great example of nonskrill/knife party dubstep, it has nothing to do with what other sounds they add in
i personally prefer rip my nuts off hard like skrills and knife party and shit, but that's probably because i grew up listening to korn and the like when i was a kid
Ok, but if I only count the beat as falling on the kick, as with dance music, then it becomes 70bpm.
This is what I call something approaching dubstep as I know it. Not the pumped up skrillex bullshit, which is actually also pretty awesome.
Dub was always slower than 4/4 dance, as was two step. Most of the shit I hear these days that people call dubstep is more like Drum and Bass than dub or twostep.
eski i think the oldschool "dubstep" is leaning towards dram n bass styles rather than the 'new' dubstep which is nearly teetering on gabbers (slower side at 150bpm)
yeah bro dubstep's pretty much defined as 140bpm, if such a definition existed. and i believe that dubstep was basically derived from drum and base so you are in the right area
you need to get over skrillex his style is not THE definition of dubstep, that is purely his take on dubstep and what he does with the bass and sounds he makes. his background is actually heavy metal screamer/shouty type shit, he was a singer(screamer) for some metal band back in the day. he's basically bringing heavy metal to dance music
there are so many other people making dubstep out there that sound nothing like skrillex and have been doing for longer than he has
magnetic man are considered godfathers of sorts within the dubstep world, shame i missed them at parklife last year

Speaking of Skrillex and terri dubstep... recently tomorrowland was held (massive dance music festival here in europe) and this chick decided to go next level shizbomb.
i believe she took a shit but because she was sitting flat on her ass she smeared it over the ground when she half tried to wipe her ass by sliding forward when she got up, i reckon most of it is still stuck between her ass cheeks (probably still is right now)
