Metal just makes me laugh. I could never take it seriously. But from what I gather, that seems to be one feature of it.

metal has a stigma, even though the genre and it's definition is so broad that I'm sure you could find an exception to your comment.

and which one? symphonic metal been around for about 15 odd years and ale storm? they're folk/power metal. Power metal has been around since the 1970s with Dio and folks been popular for about 15-20 years. there's that many sub-genres all with their distinct sound. not a big fan of either genres though.
