You haven't seen it? There's two seasons so far, Blood & Sand (season 1), and Gods of the Arena (1.5, actually a prequel, but still should be watched after 1).
The first episode has a 300 feel, but after that it goes into more of a... prison break direction.

Hah, yeah haven't seen it, just noticed when looking for the episodes. Looks good though, though I have so many tv shows to watch. Still haven't started Game of Thrones.

The pilot was kind of weaksauce, but the show gets exponentially better, the finale is one of the best episodes of anything evah. Not that many episodes to a season either.

Yeah but they either don't fake em, or even downplay them, to make you feel better about your own.

Still worth watching. <3 Spartacus series
enjoyed the ep. new guy does a pretty good job. i watched the last episode from the first series to remind me where it was at.. the new guy looks like he hasn't worked out as much as the old one, or any of the other main actors for that matter last edited by Jerry at 01:57:16 26/Jan/12

the modern looking strap-on
I wondered about that, but then decided as they got the speech syntax to vaguely match ancient latin or somesuch, I would trust them in absolutely all things historical. (roman soldiers apparently didn't have the red cloaks back then).
I didn't mind the new guy, overall the show is struggling with several huge changes, and that I know the loose history from here on out so don't expect many surprises (though the end of episode 1 still pulled one, sadface). Still, seems enjoyable.
Also I take back being desensitised to the nudity, it was awesome.

Yeah the new guy could have hit the gym before pretending to be an awesome killing machine. It feels like they hired him purely on the basis that he kinda looks the same, facially at least.

Holy crap this series is amazing. I have never been so engaged in a TV series before. They just capture the combat and adrenaline so well, and I love the 300 style fighting and scenery. Up to episode 7 at the moment in season 1, so damn awesome.

yeah he was in remission and was preparing for season 2 when the cancer came back, so he left the show so they could continue it with a different actor. very sad.

Spartacus was obviously the new actor, but everyone else were fairly easy to pick.
I'm guessing the wife of the blonde dude (The dude died in the first season, She died in the first ep of this one) is someone a lot of people wouldn't have recognised.

I'd be surprised if people didn't remember Orellia (nfi on spelling, Varro's wife), she was one of the main characters. That being said, I did rewatch bits of season 1 recently, so was still fairly on top of it.

Season 2 hasn't been as good so far. This show has always had some dodgy acting, but ye gods, it's lacking many decent actors right now. Still, tis good overall, Ilithyia-roman-bath scenes are always a plus.

Yeah, it's as if teenagers with Xena Warrior Princess fantasies in the late 1990's grew up, become tv producers and then cast Lucy Lawless in a role where she gets her kit off at the drop of a hat.

Haven't seen the latest ep, but the new season has seemed a bit more repetitive and slow. So many actor changes makes it difficult too. Still enjoying it overall.
Ilithyia is outrageously attractive, which helps.

This in a series where one topless chick takes another topless chick's head and introduces it to the floor over and over until she literally has a face like a smashed crab?

Yeah, I dunno...
they sure left it open for a sequel, but I think it's ready to end...
My interest in the series was for a bit of a 'Rome' replacement, and whilst I'm not totally disappoint (lets be serious, it's got nothing on Rome here..., but eh. titteh's and blood is a good sideshow) I think it's run its course.
