Hello upstanding gentlemenn.
I am looking to invest in a new Television show to watch straight through the next few days. Which of the above would you recommend? I have watched most others on the market at the moment. I hear good things about both of these.

Haven't seen boardwalk, but can vouch for SoA if you can get past the way the main character walks, which nearly made me turn it off after the third ep of the first season. Glad I didn't.

Season 4 of SoA has had the "turn to shit" fairy arrive and wave her magic wand. The way it is going they'll all end up dead methinks.
If you do decide to watch SoA, start from season 1.

both are good.
watch whichever one you want, then watch the other!

After being into S4 of SoA I'd say pick Boardwalk Empire (if you had to choose). The show seems to be going down hill in this season while Boardwalk Empire is charging ahead.

Boardwalk Empire has better writing and is generally a better show, but Sons of Anarchy is more fun.

Since we have resolved the SOA vs BE debate, can I also recommend The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Deadwood as particularly outstanding TV drama (and horror - WD and AHS).
If you haven't seen any of the above I would highly recommend getting a hold of them ASAP.

Seen the 1st 3, they are in my top 10 series of all time. Haven't seen the final 3......anyone back up what this hombre is saying?

Walking Dead's quality is currently the subject of heated Internets debate.

The Walking Dead and Amercian Horror Story are the new kids on the block; personally I like em cos they are horror based, but I could see why people might not. Each to their own.
Deadwood however is not negotiable and an absolute must-see. I cannot recommend it highly enough and if Sopranos, Breaking Bad and The Wire are in your top 10, make a spot for Deadwood. My only complaint is that there is sadly only 3 seasons.
I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Annoyingly there was also only 1 more season to finish the story but it was canned. Even more annoyingly they were offered 6 episodes instead of a full season to wrap it up and they turned it down.

Deadwood is awesome.
Boardwalk empire is good but i haven't been watching much of season 2 so far. Can't comment on Sons of Anarchy but i think i'll watch it one day when i've got nothing else to do.
I'm also really enjoying Fringe, only recently got into it but it's been great.
