not going to lie after how badly setout last years effort was i said i wasn't going to another future music festival short of them having the swedish house mafia, boy did they show me
SHM & Skrillex - doesn't get much better for me at the moment
i was thinking just the other day that i'd like to see skrillex again after seeing him at creamfields a few months ago, now that i know a lot more of his gear.
plus a chunk of other names i would like to check out:
FATBOY SLIM - shame he will probably be on at the same time as SHM
APHEX TWIN
SVEN VATH
AZARI & III
ALEX METRIC
HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR
BENOIT & SERGIO
I missed Naked & Famous at parklife on account of the girlie having a mid festival moment so will be checking them out.
SHM is win. I was just saying to a mate on friday night I'd love to seem em, and boom.
i'm still surprised they aren't doing their own shows instead touring with a festival
they just announced last month a show in madison square garden in NY which sold out in 10 minutes and milton keynes bowl un the UK as well as 2 shows in brazil.
i thought for sure today they would announce their own shows here rather than a festival
i think it would make my futuremusics experience 50% better if it hadn't rained for days before and on the day the last 2 years
it would also make things a whole lot easier if the stupid cunts would put the matting down in front of the stages to stop the ground from liquefying a half meter deep. only festival that doesn't do that these days
I am in for sure, saw fat boy slim a few years back in Ireland, he killed add in SHM and skrillex, the wombats + chase and status and its all kinds of win

they were pretty awesome, but i wouldn't stress over missing them cause they'll be playing at least one major festival per year considering they're kiwis.
seems going price for festy tickets is $140 these days
i was wondering this aswell, why the fuck are tickets 140+ these days but when i was hitting festivals up 6yrs ago it was like $80. Had a bit of a read about this and read some quotes from bands and they pretty much said something along the lines of 'we understand that noone makes money from cd sales these days, cds is to get ur name out there and ppl to like u, festivals and touring is where the money comes from these days'
its a trade off between buying cds : cheaper festivals/tours
wasn't i just saying the other day dave that you would be the first person whinging if your favourite music artists stop making music because they just couldn't afford to because everyone torrented it? :]
seems going price for festy tickets is $140 these days
Although I don’t bother with festivals they really aren’t too bad price wise when you consider you are getting 12 hours of entertainment. $140/12= $11.60 per hour - not bad is it?
will definately say there is a much high quality of act touring.
last couple of years have pretty much bought me out of retirement because theres soooo many acts that i never thought id be able to see, playing right here in little old brisbane.
i dont mind paying large $$$$$ if i get to see acts that i really want to see
yer, i still remember buying bdo tickets and getting change from a hungee.
im just happy that the artists have gotten over the 'war on piracy' and just accepted this is the way of the new world and you make a name and some income via cd releases etc but you make your real money touring.
not everyone pirates music scoobs, just because you do doesn't mean the entire world does. maybe they have accepted that a % of people are just jewish cunts.
you'll all be the first complaining if your fav artists just started packing up shop and went and become concreters bcause there just isn't any money in making music anymore
that's fine dave
i buy certain tracks i really like basically i think they are worth the money. happy to pay for good gear.

Name one Dj/ band that has stated they got into the industry to become rich? Pretty sure they do it because they love how it makes them and others feel.
So many musicians get paid next to nothing and still do it because they love it not because there is a chance of a massive pay check if they make it in the industry
..and its not about making buttloads of money - its about making enough to live off...
Sure, do it for the love but you gotta eat as well.
But lets face it - paying for recorded media is coming to an end.
I'm sure you all realize that eventually you will be paying ginormous prices to see acts if touring is their only income?
and it means *real* music ( as in proper underground non commercial music that doesn't have a massive stage show) will diminish as well...its already happening.
I personally don't think the idea of only making music off touring will work. There are a tonne of artists that make incredible music that will never tour. Touring is really a young mans game... so does that mean that making money off music will only be for young ppl?
The only older acts in that line up above have already established themselves in the time before the music industry changed.
I believe it will survive with the idea of what MP3.COM was when it first started.
you get paid for how many listens or downloads you get and advertising will pay for it.
I made $5k in one year on mp3.com in the mid nineties earning less than a cent a download/play before it changed - obviously I was working at the time and producing music was a hobby. Some ppl who made more commercial music ( similar to the acts on the line up above) made more money.
Youtube is already starting to do this. Paying ppl for views.
Its the only way I can see quality music surviving.

(lmfao came into my little part of the world yesterday, with blue monday cranked, dude sat there grooven while looking at books, (and having their photo taken) then came up and asked what the name of the song was, cause he could never remember
i think they have done a great job, i was stressing knife party/swedish house mafia/skrillex would all clash
going to be a cunt act to move from the knife party stage to the main stage
as i am going sydney as well i think i am going to skip knife party in sydney and just hang at the main stage and see fatboy slim and get a really good position for the swedes
only clash i'm really not liking is porter robinson - was madkeen to see him :\
Yeah, the timetable is pretty good, but as with most, I have a couple issues;
Chase & Status at 2:50 :(
Saw Fatboy Slim at good vibes in 09' and it was a pretty pathetic set, disappointing for him to be so high in the day.
And if it wasn't for Chase & Status I never would've heard of Tine Tempah. But even after listening to some of his music I can't see why he's so high on the main stage for either. Especially above the likes of C + S/Skrillex.
/rant
But at least with having fatboy at that time it allows me to go watch knife party. So win some lose some.
i'm going to assume he is epic, he's been around that long i don't think the guy would be capable of providing a bad set
fuck it is going to be epic
it is going to be an absolute cunt act to move from knife party to swedish house mafia i reckon, kind of glad fatboy is on at the same time knife party won't be so stacked but it's going to be hard to get a decent spot for shm
bought tickets for this when they came out, find out last week mates, that have been overseas for 15months, are coming back on the 3rd and having a massive party down the coast.. sold both tickets =(
Wasnt a troll attempt, its what ill be doin. If it was troll woulda said "cant wait to see ya at evolution paveway".........so..... cant wait to see ya at evolution paveway!
Geniunely excited about john o c and gareth emery, though no doubt i am in the minority.
Will be making my way over to swedish house mafia, though nfi how will get anywhere near the stage, imagine itll be packed and ill be getting over late since will be at PVD.
