I just finished watching "They call me Fitz" and all i can say is bring on season 2!
What a great premise, well acted, funny, irreverant etc. If you like corpses, dysfunctional families, selling cars, innappropriate disabled jokes, kidneys getting stolen, drugs, sexy wenches, people getting it on with someone in a coma etc, you will love this series hehe
I've just started a HBO miniseries called John Adams. It's not bad, seems to have a slight case of hero worship, and isn't up to scratch with HBO's usual freedom from unrealistic-bullshit inherited with common live action story telling techniques, but is still quite good! As a crazy "leave me the fuck alone" pro-liberty type, hero-worship of the "founding fathers" during the American revolution speaks to me. :P
I just got s1 of The Wire cause I keep hearing all this great shit about it. Latest newish shows that I have finished were Sons Of Anarchy (I know not new, but was to me) Workaholics, Breaking In, and in a few others but I have too many shows to watch I can barely keep up so may have to drop some that don't make the cut.
The Wire I actually found difficult to get into to begin with, it took at least 4-5 episodes before I actively wanted to watch it, I had to force myself to watch those first ones, but once you're in it's great.
I liked John Addamms but I like all that birth of America stuff.
Eastbound and Down is the funniest show Ive seen for ages.
In Treatment is really good to watch if you are alone without distractions.
Its a thinking kind of show though with no action, in fact its mostly just two ppl talking.

It's fun, and came right on the heels of some rage I had tried to verbalise for submission to the classification review. I felt vindicated that some of the 'greatest' men/people in history are remembered for similar silly indignancy when treated like lesser beings.
I recently started watching Battlestar Galactica and it is fuckin epic! Can't believe i havent seen this up until now, definately worth watching if you like scifi/drama.
awesome sauce! we finished season 3 last night. great humor mixed with the dark side and some good stories.
the pilot has some different actors for the main characters than from the series and we were a bit, uh oh, because those actors were good in the pilot. but once we got used to the new ones it was no problem.

I had the pleasure of discovering this last Christmas. 80 or so episodes in two weeks! So good although season 3 was painful.
People starting battlestar now are going to miss out on the crazy mid-season waits and theory-grinding. Maaan the epic theories that we had.
There's a short webseries which takes place between season 2 and 3 which might be worth checking out.
I actually really liked all of season 3, it gave the whole situation more depth and a feeling of realism. Season 4 was awesomely exciting but in retrospect made very little sense. Still think that mid season 2 to early season 3 was fucking epic in a never again matched way.
I highly recommend X-Files. I know it's old, but get it form season 1 to season 9 and be SURE not to miss ONE episode. If you watch EVERY ep without missing one the story line is so fucking unreal you will want to spend the next 4 months re-watching it all again..
It's that good I have booked myself in mid next month for a new tattoo.. X-files 'X' on my ribs! :)
Yeah, I love X-Files, got all the DVDs, but really it would be safer to stop at the end of season 7 and pretend season 8 and 9 didn't exist, they were pathetic.

Are you kidding me?! Season 8 is boring and kinda kills it a little bit but season 9 wraps the whole thing up, it's fucking awesome!
Well the show was originally gonna end after Season 7, so everything pretty much gets wrapped up at the end of Season 7 but then they decided to make more so they had to tack another couple more seasons on, invent new storylines, bring in new main characters (cos David Duchovny leaves), and it was just shit all round. Felt really tacked on.
but season 9 wraps the whole thing up, it's fucking awesome!
Wraps what up? All it wraps up is the shit new storylines they invented post season 7. The very last episode was cool, but thats the only episode I'd recommend anyone watching. The whole messiah baby thing was fucking lame.

Season 8 is a new character. Season 9 followed on from season 7 with a few things that have obviously been explained at the end of S7. Cancer man tells you things (No spoilers) that wasn't explained at the end of S7. You see who the true conspirators are so on so forth.
If anything don't watch the latest movie - COMPLETE DOG SHIT GAY BALLS
All the way upto season 9 there is dick all romance between Mulder and Scully and then all of a sudden after not seeing each other for years they get it on? BULL SHIT!
Plus the latest movie is just an extended episode, not even a good one.
Also, not once did Mulder think he could find his sister threw some dudes telekinetic powers but oh, in the movie he seems to think so! :O

Yeah, but it was all retconned in after the fact. Theres no escaping the fact that everything post Season 7 was not planned as part of the original story, the story was done, then they had to bring it back to life and try and keep it going. Everything was wrapped up, so I really can't put any stock in any "reveals" that happen in Season 9, cos its just shit they tacked on after the fact.
I didn't actually mind the new characters truth be told, but it just didn't work as the X-files. They should have made a new show with the Dogget / Reyes team. Like how Stargate spun off into multiple shows, they should have spun off into a new show instead of trying to continue it as the same X-Files.

The second flick was alright, not great but passable.
The difference between the two movies together are just a symptom of one of the major niggling problems with the X-Files series. They could never quite commit to whether the show was about where Mulder and Scully fit into the grand conspiracy or whether it just wanted to showcase the monster of the week.
That and Chris Carter twisted himself into bigger logical knots than Abrams and Lindelof did with Lost a decade later, especially towards the X-Files end.
My TV picks would be the recent Chris Lilley series Angry Boys (some love it, some hate it), Mad Men, Breaking Bad & Game of Thrones. The Borgias isn't too bad either, but it's not everyones cup of tea.
Millennium with Lance Henrickson was damn awesome too although the ending was rather gay. It's like the show got cancelled so they had to quickly end it. Always liked it over X Files although I wouldn't mind sitting thru X Files again. Been more than 10 years since I've seen any eps of it.
