Just finished watching the first ep. Never saw the original, so don't know how this one stands against it. But it's started off pretty solid and I think I'll keep watching it!

I likewise haven't seen the original but on the strength of recommendations sought this out. It's a weird premise to say the least. Doesn't bode well for if we do meet aliens.

I agree with you ravn0s, they kind of left things hanging and not in a good way, so they needed another hour to flesh things out.

The chick from firefly has awesome legs. It's promising so far, not much else to watch on Wednesday nights anyway.

Man I could go on for ages about how much this sucked, not just as a remake of a pretty cool series/story, but just as a standalone TV show. So many cliches just dragged out soooo painfully. Do writers/directors think people haven't seen TV before? We already know the character of the emo rebel youth, the idiot friend, the weary cop. Why do they drag out scenes so much to establish their characters?

They're going to have to do a hell of a lot of work to make this worth watching for me.

i thought i'd give this a watch even though i hated the original. i thought perhaps the effects will be cooler now that it's 2009. BZZZT! wrong. instead it's just more of a soap opera than it was before.

I remember the olded one scared the shit out of me,(the tv mini series from like 84' or something, in my defence, i was about 3.

just watched the remakes 1st ep.
heaps better than the old one imo.

I watched the original on TV and also rewatched it about 6years ago. V was a cool series. I might take the plunge and watch the first few of this one.

I watched it and really enjoyed it, I saw the origional series but so many moons ago I dont remember what it was about, this was great!

I've never seen the old one (though I knew most of the story anyway), but I just watched the new one and I thought it was pretty good. The stuff with the teenage kids was pretty lame, but the rest of it I liked, I'll keep watching.
