Thought i'd share. My little white girl, is off to the autoshop, she's receiving some autronic cdi enhancements, a new set of cams, new valve springs, adjustable exhaust sprocket, custom catch can, custom overflow bottle, shift light setup and a nice tune. When i get her back on friday she should be singing to the tunes of about 240 - 250 rear wheel kilowatts.
I can't wait to get her back!
Best week ever for a long time.
Cheers

My shinning white lady glady accepts your duel BJ!
Autronic cdi is an ignition system for those who don't know. Capacitive discharge ignition, you start needing it when you start blowing out the spark in the cylinders because the air is too dense. It's not really a power upgrade mod on its own but gives you room to move and add more boost and definately increases the response from the car.
BJ doesn't know what cams are going in it though muahahaha..hint replacing valve springs, lifters, etc.....
Still i bow down to GTR launch, but not your roll on!

Thats right.
I had all the fun of removing/reinstalling a turbo last weekend. :)

hott, i'd love some procams with big valve springs, but too much money *tear* better spent on a new engine for me.

Must be a big turbo if you are upgrading your cams/valvesprings etc, sounds uber.

I was under the impression that SR20s don't flow well enough even with a standard turbo.

yeah SR20's benefit heaps from some bigger cams even on the stock turbo. Makes them more rev-happy even.

ARP Head Stud Bolts also going into the head for some extra bolt strength. Holds the head together better than the standard items, wont stretch, also allows you to run more boost safely. I think thats about it for now.
We'll see about the GTR, i used to race my friends GTR. 208kws at all fours and it would only just walk away with the win, maybe 2 car lengths at the most, this was way back when all i had was an exhaust and some boost. I dont ever under estimate GTR's, but they're not invincible. Next cruise, its on like donkey kong, biatch.

208kw, im bit past that stage now.
when we went on that cruise it was 230kw at all 4 and running like a dog.
since ive had the cat gutted (was broken in pieces and blockin the exhaust bigtime), new single bov ventin to atmo and a new boost controller (avcr's are puss) and I gotta say im finally very happy with the car again
car has heaps more topend from the cat gone, hits boost twice as hard and actually holds boost between gears now, it was a slug compared to how it drives now ;) ill be makin a update in a few short weeks
bring on that rolling start nigga

I find it hard to believe you can be unhappy with a GTR.

rocker stopper kits are the shiz, and its rare for the rocker are to actually break, whats not rare is for them to jump out of their location and to become dislodged under high rpm. Still we've added new valve springs and lifters and the rocker arm stopper kit to ensure that doesn't happen. If you run the correct spring rate you technically shouldn't need the rocker stopper kit, prefer to over engineer it and make sure they stay in place though! :)
Nice BJ, nice, will be interesting to see how they go against each other.
So when the hell are we organising another cruise? I think it's come time.

you'd be surprised.
mine used to fuckin shit me that much I wouldnt bother washing it on weekends. I used to hate taking it out. now its the first time in a long time im looking for excuses to drive it to go boosting again :p
I think ill be heading up to willowbank this sat night (the 4th) as the next test and tune isnt on till the 22nd (a wed anyway) wanted to wait till I serviced a few other things but im keen to run it again now so we'll see if I can break somethin

Nah im sick of spending money on the car now, life has too much more to offer :)
Not sure yet but thinking about selling the gtr and purchasing another stock car for another buildup down the track when ive got a few things sorted and more income.
The next car I build though, its going to be done right, and done with a bigger goal in mind.
Big single, motec, 400+rwkw min. Ive got a car in mind but nothings certain yet so I wont say
It will come, and when it comes it will come like me in enigmas mum.. hard

My car isn't quite right yet, got the turbo in but i'm having some weird idle issues I need to sort out.

GT2871R, very similar in many respects to the HKS GT28RS, bigger inlet, probably about the same response and horsepower levels as well. At the moment the car has 325hp at the wheels, when you take into consideration drivetrain losses its probably running close to its peak, engine horsepower would be in the vicinity of 360hp - 370hp, wind in about another 4psi and it'd be at about its limit in terms of flow.

Wow that's awesome power.
You're running ~20psi on that thing?
How do you find response?
I see full boost @ 4000 but power started to drop @ 6500. Is that cause they backed off on the dyno or just how the car was tuned?

They just backed off the power (SR20DET peak power is at about 6400rpms), unsure why the boost dropped back to 18psi in the latter part of the graph though, already asked the question (could have been because they backed off), will get him to have another look at the tune and get it spot on, on the dyno it looks like it tails off, but on road performace is phenomenal, torque increased by over 15% through the midrange thanks to the cams, so even though on paper the power curve and boost curve look like they come on late, the torque curve is much higher through most of the rev range compared to the last map, so full boost at 4000rpm isn't indicative of how the car feels on the road. It has serious useable torque anywhere from 2500rpm and onwards, but gives you a serious kick in the ass when you hit 4000rpm and above.
For the torque increase i got, the mods were definitely worth it, plus the engine response with the cdi is exceptional.
I'm going to sort out some traction issues from here, i'd say a mechanical LSD is on the cards and a new gearset won't be to far behind either.

sounds like fun, I hope my car gives me similar results hey!
I think my issues are down to a blockage in my catch can - I'll fix it on Saturday.
