I think you would be surprised on case design whoop and the effect it has on cooling. More fans is not the answer.
This. Some people think more fans (located anywhere, blowing in *whatever* direction) is the answer, but not only does this not solve the problem but their PC sounds like a plane taking off.
Much better having a case similar in design to the Antec 902, etc where you have air flowing in a straight line
through the front top HDD-cage fan, through the CPU fan, and out the back case fan. With this setup you can actually turn all the fans on the LOWEST speed and your components (CPU, HDD, motherboard) will remain cold to the touch - and less of that heat will linger to overheat your graphics card too.
Most peeps just need to splash down $500 on a 2700K / $130 Gigabtye mobo / 4gb ram
Not sure why people continue to recommend the 2700K - the price jump from the 2500K doesn't match the miniscule performance jump. If you were after performance, you'd overclock - and in that case both chips can hit 4.5GHz easily, with the 2700K actually not getting much further on average.last edited by parabol at 12:43:30 06/May/12
