I decided to go this route after the bed side light thread ended in a recommendation for a Tiffany Lotus lamp. <-- google images reveal something on par with child porn

So who knows where to get a good fine leather case with associated light for my new kindle

One of my friends has an official Kindle one with a light that hooks straight into it and uses the Kindle battery. Are you not interested in official solutions?
