hi all, first post on these forums (long time lurker)
im upgrading from my 775 socketed core 2 quad to a 1155 with a i5 2500k. what i was hoping was that my trusty Thermaltake DuoOrb might...might, fit onto the 1155 socket. There seems to be alot of coolers on the market today that do fit both 775 and 1155, but i have no idea if that is with the use of some special adapter.
Any thoughts? I do want to keep my cooler so an solution using an adapter is fine, if it doesn't fit right on...but, if it's a lost cause, can anyone recommend a cooler?
Zalman makes a new bracket & clip for the cooler I had that made it fit an 1155 socket, depending on how it connects a similar thing might be available for yours. Though I ended up getting a new cooler anyway because the old one was prone to getting clogged with dust easily, and was starting to turn green.
that coolermaster only looks to suit LGA775, so no help there, thx anyway. nice cooler though!
I'll look into a solution from Zalman, thanks Whoop. I really am attached to my DuoOrb and if i can keep it, i will!
Keep the suggestions coming tho please folks!
Ahh thanks copuis, yes the article was from '08. I emailed zalman a few moments ago, but i perhaps have a soltion. The XIGMATEK ACK-I5361 Crossbow fits 1155/1156 and 775, so it should be exactly what i need!
yup, ive been pondering exactly that all day. I have read where with certain boards 775 plates will fit but about 10 degress off axis, so might test fit then look at my options.
