well i rooted my laptop hard drive somehow. suspect is norton 360 (dont ever get this)

2 usb ports dont work.
one gets power, but refuses to stay id'd. flashes up once then disappears
the other wont recognize anything. get a code 43. though it does rarely fix it sometimes.
it doesnt seem to hold the drivers
reinstall didnt work. had alot of left over files for some reason. so im dbaning it hoping itil turn into a virgin?
are my plugs fucked.
any suggestions?

This reference just went over the head of 9/10 QGL users, but I acknowledge it.

look in device manager to make sure all the drivers are installed. My motherboard actually has 2 USB controllers, one in the intel chipset, and a separate lot in another NEC chip.

Also most decent laptops have a restore feature that restores them to the way they were when you first bought it, try that? It's basically an image of the hard drive that overwrites anything currently on it so make sure you back up first.

I was thinking chipset drivers myself when I read the op.

Really? I couldn't help but think "why the fuck did he take it to officeworks for anything more than warranty replacement for parts!?"

What sort of 'rooted' btw? was the disk itself actually dead?
