Sup peeps massive fan of this forum.

I'm upgrading my rig next week and just want to know if the ASRock Z68 Extreme4-Gen3 Z68 is a good board for gaming.
parts I'm buying listed below...

I5 2500k
ASRock Z68 Extreme4-Gen3 Z68
8gb ripjaw 1600's

I already have my gtx580 *loving it thanks for pushing me back to nvidia skythra extremely happy with the performance*

I was looking at the fat1lity board but the $70 price difference has me leaning towards the ASRock Z68 Extreme4-Gen3 Z68.

is the ASRock Z68 Extreme4-Gen3 Z68 good enough for gaming will be running 2x 580's mid 2012.

Not that great with motherboards but I have been rocking that motherboard w/ GTX570 and an i5 2500k for the last couple months without any hitches if that says anything.

Amazing board. When I get another GTX570, I'll be glad I got that board, both cards will run at 16x PCIE.

I have one - best board I've bought in many years. Great features for the price. Recommended.

I've read that the usb3 controller it uses is a little dodge, and that it may be a better idea to go for the extreme3 gen3 instead.

Did some benchmarks in 3dmark06, vantage and 3dmark11 on my brothers board, he has 4 pcie slots, 2x16 and 2x8, in the 2x8 slots he got the same 3dmarks as the 2x16 slots.

He's running 2 580gtxs

If he had the 3gb models maybe it'd make a difference, but even then it'd be minimal.

Ive got the first gen of this board. Only complaint I have with it is that the onboard sound is pretty average.

It's more dependant on the res and it really only shows on triple screen setups (5760x1200 etc).

Hence 3gb models.

At 1.5 the limitation is the ram.

(Tests were at 2560x1600, but say tripple 22" at 5060x1050 is normally 5million pixels, where as a single 30" is 4.1 million so there's only 25% difference in pixels, which is a reaosnably accurate way to determine the difference in vRAM usage between them depending on FOV and other factors oh i didn't say above, but also tested BF3 in both setups but not objectively with FRAPS just online to see if there was any visible difference, none could be seen, hard to judge online though, frames vary wildly from 40fps to 120fps)
