After pulling my finger out of my arse and doing my Tax return, I have a healthy balance to purchase a new Compewta

I have a little idea of what I want I just need a bigger case and a psu to suit.

i7 2600""
HDD 2T seagate
Asus P8286 deluxe
8 gig 2133 ram
GTX 570

need a 700watt? PSU and a case to suit as my current case is to small.

thoughts and constructive crit?

12 mate, My uncles brother's son has this idea of gluing the cores back to back then coating them in zinc to get and extra .7 ghz per core. Brilliant.

I got this and it's fine http://umart.com.au/pro/products_review.phtml?id=10&bid=2&id2=159&sid=51540
But that was over a year ago.
I gaffer taped it into the case because it's too small to fit in the 3.5" bay.

Something that's not an OCZ Vertex 3, unless you like your drive to randomly power down and cause Windows to BSOD.

SSD boot is a big improvement. bigger PSU is always going to come in handy too, but 700w would be ample for that setup.

I think it's pretty generous to categorise that subject as a 'typo'.

I've had a Corsair Force for over a year now and it's been totally awesome. Not the cheapest though..
If you can afford it, try for something at least 100GB so you can put a few of your most used programs and games on there as well, makes doing your most common tasks so much faster and more enjoyable!

Also I think a 700W PSU is good enough to handle all that plus anything you might add later, unless you're planning on getting a second video card to SLI with in the future.

As far as I'm concerned a good quality 550W PSU will suffice, I've got almost the exact rig and my 550 is doing fine.

There's a firmware update for that. Mine BSOD'd twice, then I was informed about the f/w update, now it's fine. And fucken quick.

Thoughts?

Without a budget, anything is speculative. That system you've specced is worse than one with 3xsli and a watercooler for large overclock.

There you go. Add a figure and then go figure.

As I posted in the other pc thread, this is a reasonably capable build (using existing case, psu, secondary hdd)

Gigabyte GV-N560OC-1GI GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti PCI-E DDR5-1GB, 256BIT, 2X DUAL-LINK DVI-I, 1X MINI HDMI $260.00
Asus P8P67-V3 P67, 4DDR3, D12PH, 2400OC, RAID, GBLAN, PCIE16, 2FW, SA3, ATX, STEP3 $158.00
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 Unbuffered DIMM Memory for AMD, Intel Dual Channel DDR3, and upcoming 2nd Generation Intel Coreā„¢ platforms $95.00
Intel i7 2600 CORE i7 2600, Quad core with HT, 3.40GHz, 8MB CACHE, LGA1155 $300.00
OCZ VTX3-25SAT3-120G SSD 2.5" SATA3 120G Vertex 3, read 550mb/s, write 500mb/s $278.00

I'm still having problems with 2.11, though not as frequent as with 2.06.

Oh.. I hear that a lot, but after three failed asus boards in a row, i swapped to gigabyte and seem to have very little trouble with them. I could be lucky but these last two gigabyte boards overclock well and have features enough for me to be happy.

Not that it matters.. I'd rather go evga personally, from online reviews their features and overclocking are usually better than both :( but it always seems when I go to umart to get one they're out of stock. MSY never have brand parts in stock at indro either.

i don't know, i have a vertex 2, and *touch wood* not had an issue (with the drive)

if the win experience score is anything to go by, I'm pulling a 7.5 on the hard drive (it was 6.8 before the new mobo, and it if i take out 8gb of ram (leaving 4) the speed (or score at least) drops to 7.2

boot times are wonderful, about as quick as a 16yo can rub one out (i figure on about 15 sec boot time, including bios)

Yeah, my two 60GB Vertex 2s are fine, no problems there. It's the Vertex 3 that I want to throw out a window.
