running 64bit os? even if you are, you wont see any increase in performance unless you are doing something super memory intensive
check your memory usage now, you'd be lucky to see 2gig of ram in use any one time
I am an IT student. I play a lot of games, use photoshop, fireworks etc. And yes, its a 64bit OS. My current usage is at 3.6gb and i think that's the bottleneck. Recently my sys performance has degraded. De-fragmentation and Registry cleans are not working any more.
I can use dual sided becuase the previous 2gb sticks are also dual sided. The point is, if i want to run the memory in dual-channel, i should populate only 2 slots. This is the info in the manual.
"4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR2 1066(OC)/800/667 MHz memory modules
(Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest memory support list.)
* Because of Intel chipset limitation, please use single-side memory module if four memory modules are to be installed."
I purchased 2 x 2gb sticks from MSY but they are not working. Its not their fault because i tested them individually. My BIOS is only detecting 4gigs at any time.
