I have been a flight seem fan for years so I have a little experience with HOTAS setups. I recently got back into IL2 and needed a stick and throttle but I had to be a bit tight with the cash.
I got myself a
Thrustermaster T.16000M
which only cost me $40 here in the USA. I would normally of gone for something alot more expensive but as I said I was on a tight budget. Even so for the price I thought I couldn't really go wrong since if it didn't work out I hadn't really invested much. Also this stick got good reviews arcoss the board inspite of the fact that some of the buttons feel a little flimsy.
One of the cool things about it is that it uses HALLEFFECT ACCURATE TECHNOLOGYâ„¢ ! (as they put it on the website). Basically this means the stick is very very accurate with what ever imputs it recieves plus there is no deadzones like a lot of other more expensive sticks with mechanical workings. I have had mine since about last October and it has served me well in IL2 and BFBC2 since that point.
These are the 3 other setups I was looking at when I bought this stick.
Logitech G940
which still have some deadzone issues relating to the firmware aparently although reports are they have largely fixed it.
Thrustmaster Warthog
Pretty much the pinicle of all HOTAS setups although still has some unfavourable reports about it floating around.
saitek x65 pro
I was quite close to getting this stick. However it uses something new to sticks which is that the stick doesn't actually move. It senses inputs from your hand including the twist motion for rudder control. I tend to be very heavy handed so I was concerned I may break it. Most reviews seem pretty favourable however there are enough that said they couldn't get used to it that it put me off.
Hope some of this helps. If there is anything more specific I can help you with just ask.
