Anyone have a spare one laying around they don't need.
1980 called, they want their technology back.
I'll go take a look through my drawer of s***. I keep things like that because I re-use the ribbon cable.
i think we have a draw of them at work, if whoop falls through send me a message.
no dice, all I have are male plugs :(
I need it for a customer that still uses word perfect 5.1. I had to replace her mainboard and it has and lpt port on the mainboard but didn't come with a header. Yes I know WP is 20 years old. She is slowy migrating to Word thankfully.
yeah, I kind of wish I had an older PC with parallel and serial ports on it sometimes.
All I have here are a bunch of male serial port things though, pretty sure the last two old computers I had, had the lpt port built into the motherboard's connection cluster thing.
You could do what I did though, go buy an ethernet -> parallel printer adapter (I assume it's for a printer). Not quite as cheap but if no one has one of those cables it might be the only way :(
I once helped an older lady setup her fancy sewing machine which connected to some weird arse converter to parallel, it wasn't fun. It would work for give seconds and then stop, I cried.
Does the printer have USB? Because you could upgrade to a modern version of WordPerfect. There's a classic 5.1 mode and a WP5.1 keyboard layout. It might help with the Word migration too, as you can also switch to a MSOffice mode.
thought I did but I only have a game port and a bunch of lpt cables
I had a look rusta and I couldn't see anything. Although I do have an ISA Sound Blaster and a PCI IDE RAID card if you need :S
Yeah the printer has usb. If I can't get a hold of the header or it fails to work, i'll get her to purchase a new version of word perfect. Thanks for the tip Mantorok.
