I need it for a customer that still uses word perfect 5.1. I had to replace her mainboard and it has and lpt port on the mainboard but didn't come with a header. Yes I know WP is 20 years old. She is slowy migrating to Word thankfully.
yeah, I kind of wish I had an older PC with parallel and serial ports on it sometimes.
All I have here are a bunch of male serial port things though, pretty sure the last two old computers I had, had the lpt port built into the motherboard's connection cluster thing.
You could do what I did though, go buy an ethernet -> parallel printer adapter (I assume it's for a printer). Not quite as cheap but if no one has one of those cables it might be the only way :(
I once helped an older lady setup her fancy sewing machine which connected to some weird arse converter to parallel, it wasn't fun. It would work for give seconds and then stop, I cried.
Does the printer have USB? Because you could upgrade to a modern version of WordPerfect. There's a classic 5.1 mode and a WP5.1 keyboard layout. It might help with the Word migration too, as you can also switch to a MSOffice mode.
Yeah the printer has usb. If I can't get a hold of the header or it fails to work, i'll get her to purchase a new version of word perfect. Thanks for the tip Mantorok.
