enable manually by using the proxy pac

https://mediahint.com/default.pac

you could host it yourself to ensure no malicous intent was added to it.

so if an APPLE TV etc supports a pac file this would work also.

else

Netflix and a heap of others

You need to grab the file from an explorer/finder window, grabbing it from chrome itself doesnt work.

f*** hulu is awesome. Why doesn't comedy central just do something similar?

I don't even mind the adverts

They could smash TV piracy in Australia by just letting Hulu in.

It would hopefully significantly damage 7,9 & 10 too.

win all round.

If you are wondering why this is so important, here's why:

Welcome to the future. Where major hollywood actors are involved in well funded TV series where the entire season is released at once.

And thanks to this little plug-in, we have access.

Awesome natslovR. Its also great for hard to find old shows. I dont by dvd's as a rule as i watch once and they collect dust until i give them away. So to be able to watch, say, Airwolf, from start to finish is excellant.

If it does proxy traffic, anything over https should still be secure. When the plugin is loaded goto http://lagado.com/proxy-test and see if it tells you that you're going through a proxy to confirm.

Hulu is what Foxtel Download should look like.
Its a poor imitation.

My Foxtel went up $3 :(
The price is too high and the content just too small.
Foxtel should have twice as many shows for the price.

and they keep advertising their Download sevice which is s***.
I didnt get PayTV to waste my internet on dl tv shows, if i did i would do it for free using BitTorrent.
oh well, HD Footy season coming :)

Ok, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

The mediahint extension is installed and enabled in chrome, but anytime I try to go to hulu, or netflix, or any of the other links here that apparently work, I get this error message

Unable to connect to the proxy server
A proxy server is a server that acts as an intermediary between your computer and other servers. Right now, your system is configured to use a proxy, but Google Chrome can't connect to it.
Here are some suggestions:
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.
Error 130 (net::ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED): Proxy server connection failed.

But I can't change proxy settings as it says
Your network proxy settings are being managed by an extension.
- media hint I guess.

Help?

but I'm sure chrome could offer a bit more fine-grained permission to extensions

The chrome extension is very simple. It's just a forced proxy config to their servers. I would recommend using this in a disabled state for most surfing and enable only for watching Hulu or other streaming services.
