I am less than 10k's from the SCG an the rain was a VERY light drizzle at best, I can't believe they called it off!!

I was at the SGC and it wasn't that wet there. It rained for 20 minutes max and it wasn't even enough to get the girls down front to get their tops to go seethrough.

Totally lame call to stop play straight away as well - it didn't even 'start' raining for a solid 15 minutes after that. They could have played again at about 7:45pm but for some reason fucked around for another hour +

There was an option that players could wear footy spikes for better traction.

They already do wear spikes. I think for bowling/fielding most of them only wear half spikes though. But they are more like the spikes you might see on golf shoes as opposed to football varities.

They do, but a lot of the key cricketing components rely on surfaces being dry - the pitch, the ball, the outfield to a lesser extent, etc. While player safety was a consideration last night, one of the other main factors that contributed to the game being called off was how the water was going to affect the ball. They were rolling the ball on the grass and seeing how much water it was soaking up each time. They would have needed to replace the ball multiple times during the Sri Lankan innings if that happened.

It's only a matter of time. They haven't booked a World Cup after the coming one in Australia from what I have heard. England stopped playing a domestic 50 over comp a few seasons ago and effectively replaced it with a 40 over a side format. Seems odd, but keep in mind they also came up with T20, so who knows. All the highest promoted tournaments around the globe are the T20 format now, so wouldn't be surprised if it is all done by 2015.

When a team like South Africa, England or (I guess) India tours they should be playing at least 5 tests. It was a joke that we only played 3 tests against South Africa this year. That had all the makings of a classic series but it fizzled due to only 3 matches played.

Also ODI cricket needs to die. Fuck it, have three test series a summer and kill the shitty pointless ODI series and just have a handful of T20 matches. I actually like T20 and think it's pretty much superior to ODI cricket in every way. ODI cricket is just so damn predictable now.

What I meant was that after only a little bit of play you can usually tell how an innings is going to play out. If a few quick wickets are lost you know it is going to become a big single grinding borefest as the team desperately tries to hold on to wickets to bat out the 50 overs. Also the 15 over to 40 over period is also incredibly boring as the field is always set defensively making boundaries hard to come by. Innovations like a different ball at each end are all well and good but it isn't enough to rescue the format.

I would literally give no fucks if all limited over cricket was done away with and it was just test matches.

I much prefer ODI to 20-20 games. ODI I think is on the lower boundary of where you can have any reasonable sort of strategy so the game is interesting to watch. Plus it means more hours of cricket to watch compared to T20. T20 is just a boring slugfest that basically comes down to random chance - who managed to lock onto enough big slogs on the day to hit enough sixes.

Plus all that cheerleading rah rah music playing bullshit is just totally ridiculous.

I'd rather have no limited over games than just T20 for sure, but I guess they'll go where the money is. I'm voting with my feet and won't go to T20 games or watch them.
