According to reports from GameSpot (via GamePolitics), imprisoned Bohemia Interactive developers Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar have been given bail after being held on espionage charges in Greece for 128 days. Various media reports in Czechoslovakia are citing a bail of $6,686 was made, however no official statement has been made by Greece.

The two Bohemia Interactive developers were last year caught on the Greek island of Lemnos in September, and were charged with spying after photographs and videos of the military compound were found in possession. The developers claimed that it was simply a misunderstanding, as they were simply on holiday and collecting data for upcoming military simulator ArmA 3, which features a fictional Lemnos island. It isn't known whether the charges have been dropped as of yet, however we will have more once an official statement has been made.

The other thread mentioned that they were allowed to return to the Czech Republic. This to me is interesting because now what could possibly compel them to return to Greece to face trial?

fpot, it's probably just a face-saving way of releasing them.

If they try and get them back, the Czech Repub can lock Greece down via diplomatic channels, while Greece can say "We were nice enough to let them out on bail and they fucked us by not coming back" *Angry half assed fist shake*.

Greece also doesn't have to admit being wrong over the whole spy thing, either.

That way, both sides save face and everyone really wins.

Yea I got a feeling this will quietly go away now. But we probably wont know for some time as Greek judges are still on strike.

The Gamespot link is borked btw.

edit: well one thing that could compel them is that they won't get their $5000 bail back. I don't know about you but I'd gladly kiss $5k away to avoid trial for a serious charge like espionage in a country that is growing increasingly fascist.

Yea I doubt they would give that 5k a second thought. I was expecting it to be higher actually.
