Starting a new job in 2013 - anyone?

I'm making a change again. going back into selling instruments for monitoring and measuring in the environmental, gas detection, and Occupational Hygiene markets.

basically i was doing the same thing 6 months ago for a major multi national who brought in a US President/GM and pretty much decimated the company with his "style". Huge staff attrition (by choice) and it's still happening.

So i went to work for a consultancy as their BDM. Same industry segments but selling the consultants who use those instruments.

Got approached before Xmas by one of the other companies in the instruments field to see if I was interested in setting up the QLD branch for him. Knew him as a primary competitor. As I say to anyone who asks, "Always interested what's on offer."

The package is great, the range he has distribution agreements for is great. I really like dabbling in instrumentation, there is some cool stuff out there these days. So it all fit nicely for a change to get back into it.

Start 4th Feb, currently working out my notice. Which means I'm doing nothing because I work from home and given the timing pre xmas to now, with leave in between, there is not much in the pipeline to follow up.

This will be my new home in 3 weeks time http://www.aesolutions.com.au/products.php so if anyone needs anything you know where to find me!

So is anyone else starting afresh or considering a change this year?

I know my mrs just resigned after her company pulled an unpaid maternity leave on her and she's looking at doing an OHS diploma or something along the lines.

constantly growing field but lots of people into it. See if she'd like Occ Hygiene as an extension, it's quite big and getting bigger.

Last year was my year for starting a new job, this year is the year to do something about my health. Fixing s*** one step at a time, in a few more years I may even be a respectable, functioning member of society! Nah, thats probably aiming a bit high.

Not really a new job but...

Office in WA is closing and I get to work from home full time. I expect the company to offer me a redundancy in about 6-12 months once the server infrastructure has been moved to VIC.

Last year was quitting full time work and doing it on my own which was surprisingly quite successful.

This year is to be at home a bit more with our 2nd child (born 5 days ago), finish off some chocolate ideas I have and get moving on the paid work I have for the next 6 months.

I've decided to study to become a plumber. I still work at the same job as a civil contractor but will be putting myself through the TAFE course 1 day a week with 17yr olds.. should be interesting to say the least.

So yeah, not a new job but it will be down the track I guess? :P

sounds like an interesting role. What are you doing?

When I'm set up I might PM you my new work email if that's ok. Plenty of gas detection and monitoring needed there.

Yep, new job this year. Today was my second day.

Took a voluntary redundancy package from old mate Qantas, which was pretty sweet. Then got a job starting the week after my last day at Qantas - started yesterday!

Located about 150m away from where I used to work, getting paid heaps more, woo.

I started a new job on the 2nd of January. Had been with my old place for a bit over 5.5 years.

New place has taken me from SMB to the Enterprise space and given me a fairly hefty payraise included. Really enjoying it so far, it's been a great decision to move.
