Diablo 3 Previews Patch 1.07; Duelling, Class Balances and More

Blizzard has revealed new details about the upcoming duelling system that will be making its way to the hack-and-slash title Diablo 3 in content update 1.07, with the new mechanic allowing up to four players to duel in a free-for-all system. The system will take place in an entirely new area, the "Scorched Chapel" which has been specifically designed for the player combat.

The new duelling system will support up to four players consecutively, allowing you to battle your friends in "either one-on-one, three-player FFA, or a full four-player FFA." The new zone will be split into four different areas with custom geometry and design: the church, the graveyard, the river, and the lake. Players competing in the zone will not take any durability damage, will not be permanently killed on a hardcore character and will be resurrected in the duelling zone upon death.
The game doesn't keep score and there are no objectives. We wanted dueling to be as simple and straightforward as possible, so we created a minimalist system -- we know that even without rewards and objectives, some players just want to beat each other up. Some matchups may be one-sided, and we don't expect that battles will be necessarily balanced. But that's okay, because dueling in Diablo III is more about kicking ass and taking names in a no-holds-barred sort of way, and this design certainly allows you to accomplish that.
The patch 1.07 preview also reveals that two of the character classes, Monk and Wizard, will be undergoing some changes including damage buffs to certain skills and tweaks to general play. New crafting recipes, gems, monster level changes and more are also talked about which you can find full details over at the official blog post. The patch will be revealed at a later date for the PTR where players can test the new changes, with Blizzard encouraging those to participate to also leave feedback where needed.

Might give dueling a bash... I think it'll be short lived.

A nice rounded patch, currently grinding through paragon levels (42 atm) so the xp boost will be nice. AH should liven up a bit with pvp too, and new high end stuff to craft will finally give a use to some of the junk mats collected so far.

Dueling is fun, but got old pretty quick. They should have added in a system supporting staking tbqh.
