For those on the Linux platform looking for a something to do, Valve has today revealed that the previously invitation-only Steam Linux Beta is now available to all who wish to test the client.

“This is a huge milestone in the development of PC gaming,” according to Gabe Newell, Valve President and co-founder. “Steam users have been asking us to support gaming on Linux. We’re happy to bring rich forms of entertainment and our community of users to this open, customer-friendly platform.”

For those looking to try the client out will find an ever-growing list of Linux supported games over here, plus an active Steam for Linux community group, and a new GitHub bug reporting repository for direct bug reporting. You can find the client available for download here.

Terrific! They need to decouple gaming from windows, especially now with how windows 8 shows that microsoft are just guessing how a computer should work
