I haven't done an RHR test in a long time, but the last time I did it was ~42-44.
I dare say it's not that low at the moment. Don't know how you can have just done it in the middle of the morning though, a proper RHR test needs to be done first thing in the morning before you've got up or eaten.

48.
I have friends who are fitter than me who have higher resting heart rates, so I would suggest it's not a great indication of fitness by itself.

some military dumbbell presses 25kg (15)
and then finish off with some preacher bench arm curls, 15kg (15)
and then play centre in a top level netball game

How do I find out?
the very layman way i did it was to measure my pulse for 30 secs and double it.
easiest way is to find your pulse near your thumb and count the beats.
86, so yeah I'm massively unfit, but not as unfit as crazymorton! I'll claim the small victories wherever I can
but i reckon I'll win the unfittest here. I too will take a victory!!

Im 29 Quoted from Wiki Resting heart rate
The resting heart rate (HRrest) is measured while the subject is at rest but awake, and not having recently exerted himself or herself. The typical resting heart rate in adults is 60–80 beats per minute (bpm).[2] Resting heart rates below 60 bpm may be referred to as bradycardia, while rates above 100 bpm at rest may be called tachycardia. Fitness training can lead to cardiovascular changes including hypertrophy of the left ventricle and angiogenesis within muscle tissue. This leads to a state known as athletic heart syndrome, as distinct from the pathological enlargements of the ventricles in ventricular hypertrophy. Resting heart rates for athletes can be well below 60, with values of below 40 bpm not unheard of. The cyclist Miguel Indurain had a resting heart rate of 28 bpm.[3] Average resting heart rate is correlated with age:[4]

60, excellent.
I can slow it down a bit more if i concentrate -> 56. woo,
not bad considering the amount of caffeine I've had today.
i was on a heart monitor thingie and it kept on going mental just when i was falling asleep cause my heart rate dropped to much.
All good though, cute nurse came in and turned the sensitivity down :)

it was in full swing before we went to Italy early in the year. Then dropped right off to nothing for the last 6 months.
just started again this week with some walks and joining wife on Lite & Easy which seems pretty good so far. calorie controlled meals that taste pretty good, and takes the thinking out of what I'm going to eat.
looking to drop 17KG if i can.

I remember you were trying to lose weight/get fit. How goes that? Was going really well a few years back, actually lost a tonne of weight and was doing a lot of riding and personal trainer at the gym and everything. Then I went through a period of depression and adopted a "fuck it" attitude and put it all back on and then some :( Still haven't got myself properly motivated to get back into lose weight/get fit mindset since then, but I really should.

age 30, and 67bpm, however, that is after my day of 1 redbull, and 5 coffees,
sooooo, i'm guess that while i might be a fat bastard, my heart rate says i'm good, and would dare say on a caffine free relaxed day, it would be better

The resting heart rate only really measures cardiovascular fitness and how excited / drugged up you are when you take it
would be different between two people who are exactly as fit as each other
ignores other types of fitness like weights
so not really worth getting worked up about

Last physical I did was on a very hot summer day and my heart rate didn't drop for awhile. Then suddenly dropped, had to go back for another test, it wasn't as hot and dropped quickly like normal. Pom.
