Just moved back to Brisbane and need to set up some Internet.

Landline phones seem obsolete, so I'm guessing naked ADSL is the way to go.

What's the best deal? TGP maybe? I'm thinking I should get a fairly large download amount, 60GB or more. Good download speeds are also fairly important.

tpg has unlimited, iinet is a better service, cable shits on all adsls

if you can get cable, get it, also, NBN has started it's roll out, might be worth checking on if it is there for you or how far away it is

why do people keep mentioning cable? is that back again?

cause cable is quicker,

adsl 2 = 20mps
cable = 100mps

and distance from exchange doesn't effect the speed anywhere near as much

cause cable use to be expensive and speeds were the same as adsl. Also the bad part was can only be with optus or telstra... now prices are alot better and the speeds have increased dramtically

What about latency. Cable should be a little faster yes?

I want to know what the latency will be like with NBN, because as gamers that is most important.

Telstra cable here, was Elite getting 3.4mbs downloads and 1mb uploads. Now ultimate and getting 108mb down and 2.1mb up.

No optus in my area, though they keep coming to the door to tell me their ADSL can match my cable o_0

Outages happen sometimes, and slow downs but are generally fixed and the best place for updates is the whirlpool.net.au forums =)
