40, but really dry so not so bad. There was a fire about 5k from here which was a little unsettling, because I'm in heavy bush with no way of getting anywhere quickly, and it was the hottest day in over eleven years.
When I got back this afternoon the thermometer inside said 48'c, then I opened the windows and doors and the kick arse wind cooled the house quickly. I even purchased a fan today but didn't need to use it (nice high ceiling, nicely positioned house, patio keeps the house at a reasonable temp).
I was working outside today, didn't feel as bad as it has some other days... but maybe I was just more mentally pre-paired for it. It only got to 37.3 for me today, apparently...
Was about 38ish I think plus I'm inside a factory so it feels hotter and no air movement which is balls, but management buys ice blocks on these hot days so it helps.

Cos it might get hot for like a day or two, then you get days of like 15 degrees afterwards. Theres only really 6 to 8 weeks of the year where you even really need to bother with air conditioning, and I'll take cold winters over hot summers any day because its soooooooooooooooo much easier to warm up when cold than it is to cool down when it stinking hot and humid.
Even when its ridiculously hot in Melbourne it doesn't feel as bad, like a few years back when it hit something like 43 and train lines were buckling and the freezers in the 7-11 and the Coles near me just died cos they couldn't take it, if you stood in the shade you'd still get a nice cool breeze and it wouldn't even feel that bad. I dunno why, I'm not some scientist meteorologist guy, but its like the heat doesn't hang in the air in Melbourne, even when its stinking hot, the breeze is still cool and the air is still cool. But when its really bad in Brisbane the air is like a solid block of heat that just smacks you in the face as soon as you walk out into it and theres no escape.
I'll take cold winters over hot summers any day because its soooooooooooooooo much easier to warm up when cold than it is to cool down when it stinking hot and humid

Melbourne has 2 things over Queensland when it's hot, it has the cold winds blowing in off the Southern Ocean and it doesn't have the tropical/sub-tropical humidity.

That's what I always say, except for the summer where I lived in a place with aircon, in which case aircon was now the best thing ever and everybody needed to know about it. :P
20 today, only 15 degrees above average for this time of the year. Having said that it was 2 a week ago and should be 4 or 5 max the next couple of days... tomorrow might be one of those days around here where it gets colder as the day goes on.

Yeah its been stinking hot in Coorparoo yesterday and today. Nothing an air con couldnt fix but. It doesnt feel that humid which is a good thing. Hate humidity more than hot weather. Imo, Brisbane this year has replicated Melbournes erratic weather patterns. Rain, then not, then cold night, then not, then sun, then not, then cold, then not.
^ Which could happen. My mate got dobbed on for having an inflatable spa, empty and turned upside down. It rained and there was a puddle of water in one of the vinyl folds. Got a warning and was given 24 hours to remove it. Yay nanny state.

Wasn't too bad because we had a lead up to it, and a strong breeze making it bearable. No breeze and a under 30 day the day before makes it worse for me.
Most people realise there's a massive difference in energy consumption between a fan and an air-conditioning unit.
Obviously there's a time and a place for aircon, but routine use of it is just a waste of energy because some sheltered pricks can't handle it when the thermometer breaks 30.

i was in the water @ king's beach yesterday morning... fkn awesome. water was cool & clear. slathered myself in sunblock & only was in the water for about 30mins but still copped a bit of burn on my pasty white shoulders.
wore a jumper at work yesterday cause its fucken cold in my area... And had air con on all night when i got home, i got ducted air as we only have 2 windows in the whole apartment

I am wearing track dacks and a tshirt though, massive difference in energy consumption goes into making those instead of just wrapping myself in discarded newspaper
It's not that hard, if you deal with one or two hot days you'll find yourself not so worried and sleeping better in the following ones.
It's all about what's available though isn't it.. If i'm in an apartment building with shared electricity bills with housemates etc, then im gonna use it, because they will. But honestly I don't mind a bit of sweat during the day.

I think you do, I know it used to be that you could have a door with a lock/handle that was raised but many of the places i've been looking at (houseshopping) have at to add a fence and pool gate blocking off the pool area to get a newer pool cert
