A lot of power plugs in one extension board. Does it get hot?
When I built my house in 2000 I designed an office in it with 18 power points in blocks of 2 and 4 as well as 14 RJ45 wired connections plus two outside telephone ports on different lines. There is a 2 metre sliding 2 door wall cupboard that houses my comms gear and expandable patch panel. There is over 40 individual cables coming out of my cupboard wall connected to the path panel to connect any device to any port/outlet.
Overall each bedroom in the house has 6 power points and 2 datapoints as well as a telephone point and a TV aerial point.
The two lounge rooms have 6 powerpoints, 4 datapoints, 1 telephone point and 2 TV aerial points at either side of the rooms to allow for setting furniture in different layouts.
The kitchen as 6 powerpoints and 2 datapoints, 1 telephne point and 1 T V aerial point.
The pergola has 4 weathrproof powerpoints and 1 datapoint.
There is over 600metres of cable in the house. I laid it all myself and set the connection points too during the building phase.
My office is internal at the front of the house and is 6mx3m in size with two large windows from ceiling to floor of 1.8m wide along one 6m wall. It is airconditioned, 2 sets of 2 flouro lights and a two door sliding door to the office. It has a 2.8m workbench with cupboards built in underneath along one wall. It is located across a hall next to the formal lounge which I use as a meeting room for clients.
Up until a couple of weeks ago I had 14 computers in the house (some are used as SQL Servers, IIS Servers, Media Servers an VM Servers). Now I have only 12 as I gave two gaming rigs to a young Computer Science graduate I know as I no longer use them an he could as a server and development machine. On top of that we have 5 smartphones, 1 tablet and 1 WD DigitalTV in the house. I can have at times 12 to 16 devices connected at once to the router sucking on the internet teet which plays havoc on my work when high bandwidth is needed which is fairly often in my line of work.
With that note BRING ON THE NBN as I need a connection greater than what I currently get from ADSL2+ (4.6mbps down/800kbps up @ 1.7km from the exchange - copper in our neighbourhood is old and fucked). The bane of my life is my ADSL2+ connection.
What games do you play with your steering wheel on PC? The only one I've got is drift 2 and I'm sick of it so I haven't touched my steering wheel in months.
Iracing is where its at mate give it a try best sim I have ever played ( not sure if thats even the right term ) there is a Aust/ NZ league for all types of racing.
Currently girlfriend has her PC housed in here, however that will be moved in the next month to a new room. Getting a friend to move in to replace old friend and he'll be having his gear in here as well which will be fun.
Hey Guv )) its a Thrustmaster t500rs 20 buttons and switches in total the big yellow one and the four around it are show only. Belt driven and a massive step up from my old logitech unit. 10/10 from me Its a supported wheel in F1 2012 thats next on my list of games to buy.
as for driving simulators, i used to play rfactor all the time with my g25 and downloaded shitloads of mods and tracks. I even still have them all i had pretty much every track in australia including willowbank and surfers paridise (version 1 and 2) and the v8 supercars add on and drift pack add on as well as cool tracks like nurnburgring and mountain runs from places in the alps and japan. fuck i miss playing that.
yes i know i need a new keyboard but hey this one works..
Also op case is the boss of air cooling cases, that what i had back in AU and thought about getting another here but ended up getting the nzxt phantom and even though it looks cool its cooling doesnt even compare to the HAF-X.
Just trying to get ideas on a better home desk and pc setup , heres my current set up.
Sweet setup Rev. I have the same box. I did'nt know you are a sim racer. What do you play? EDIT: I've now read the thread and see you play iracing. I'm in the Atomic F1 league getting smashed :( Too many really really ridiculousness fast guys. Oh well, I have lotz of fun.
Link to last nights race (50% distance at Monaco) It rained for a good part of the race which made Tyre choice a challenge. http://youtu.be/zPfiypcFw5s?hd=1
* PC
* 27" LED
* 22" LCD
* Laptop
* Marantz amp
* Orpheus speakers
* 10" sub
* IP Phone off office pabx

Yo rev I am heaps keen to get into this sim racing type stuff. Where do I start and what is the game? I saw someone mentioned iracing which id never even heard of! Get me into this amazing invention!

I got an L-shaped desk and it works fantastically well. Can surround things around me instead of having to move around. Will take a pic when I get home.
fukles or E.T or Rev, can anyone hook me up with some details for this racing sim stuff. I am super keen to get something put together
Got a wheel yet? If not, grab a G27 from logishop. Then, grab a game like F1, 2012 and start getting a feel for it all.
I am looking at setting up a cockpit, had a look at some online and they look sweet - probably look at setting up a couple so the Mrs doesnt feel left out..
Will the Logitech G27 do the trick all the way or is it just a starter tool?
This doesn't show my TV next to my montiors at the end of my bed... but i wanted to show the kind of immersion you can get with games with the right setup.
My setup as of last Xmas. I'm running Fanatec Clubsport pedals since March, but otherwise pretty much identical.

F1 2012 isn't sim racing. Go get iRacing.
If you do go iRacing let me know and I'll hook you up with some custom Ausgamers paints - maybe even with ur name on it! :p
