Interesting note: I saw Jo Jo Zep (Joe Camilleri) perform Hit and Run last night

This is just the first monitor, second identical monitor is just the background.

Nah, it's win7, but with the use small icons on the taskbar ticked (even more vertical room).

And it's actually 5:4 (even worse i hear you all cry).

I dislike 16:9. It's just so much wasted desk real estate. I like having two monitors (so i can snap rdp sessions to one screen and have my web/email on the other) and with widescreen there's just so much space taken up for so little actual pixel count.

The web is nearly all vertical, why would I want to limit myself?

(I'm finding that in life I seem to be so pragmatic that it pains some people).

The widget is Computer Status, I think it's just one of the default widgets in win7, most of the other ones needed something called "Everest" installed and I cbf doing that.

edit. wtf microsoft stopped supporting/hosting the gadgets already?

I do on my tv, the games I'm currently playing, xpadder for the games that don't work properly with a gamepad and shortcuts to movies and tv folders so I can get to them easily using phone/gamepad/logitech remote.

I tried not having them for a while, but in the end I went back to the dark side. I only have my computer, network places and the recycle bin, one or two of the games I play every day and a text file for taking notes or leaving myself messages.

Icons on the desktop ftw, I've got all my games and regularly used stuff there, find it much easier than trawling through the start menu for it. Between the icons on my desktop and the stuff on the quick launch bar, I rarely need to even open the start menu.

You can just right click on your steam icon in the start bar to get to your games quickly. Most icons you put there get a recent history thing so you can do the same with your web browser, file browser and media applications.

That said I still have a couple of icons on my desktop. Usually they are only temporary like a game I might be currently playing that isn't in my steam folder but if they stay there for a while I just move them to the start bar.

Recycling bin 4lyfe yo.

I need to do that more often. Problem is when programs use a weird name for their .exe. Some games/programs dont use 'gameX.exe' which would make your method easy.

Plus i get lazy and end up with a massive bunch of shortcuts on my desktop til i group em, put em in folders and start again.

i have 2 folders and one icon on my desktop and regularly used programs on my taskbar.

folders are Apps and Games. the Apps is for any programs i've installed that i don't use regularly that generate a short cut to my desk top, they all go here.

the icon i have is "God Mode" so I don't really need anything else for general PC maintenance.

taskbar with pinned links for most regular used stuff like, excel, word, printer/scanner, chrome, explorere folders that i want to direct access, etc

If the program is registered with Windows it should work with its Shortcut name, not the exe name.

Rocket Dock. I never install windows with out it.

They also have icons packs there too for it. I have tried Fences and other ones like this but this is the best. Too bad you can not have 2 docks, development has stopped on this but it works 100%.
