Anthony D. L. "Tony" Scott (June 21, 1944 – August 19, 2012)[1]was an English film director. His films include Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, The Last Boy Scout, True Romance, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Spy Game, Man on Fire, Déjà Vu, The Taking of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable. He was the younger brother of fellow film director Ridley Scott.

I mainly know his name because I knew a kid called Tony Scott, so I always spot it in the opening titles of films. Didn't know he was Ridley Scott's brother.

Authorities say the 68-year-old Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island in Los Angeles.

U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Jennifer Osburn tells the Daily Breeze a suicide note was found inside Scott's black Toyota Prius, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the bridge.

It's a really shame he was driven to do this, no different to anyone else in the same situation. He made some fantastic movies over his career, personal favorites would definitely be Enemy of the State, True Romance and The Fan.

RIP.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale says Scott's death Sunday is being investigated as a suicide.

After they ruled out a suspicious MiG that followed him through the 1g inverted dive.

One of my best friends from primary school committed suicide as a young adult by hanging himself. He was aboriginal and was adopted by a white couple. He also had an adopted aboriginal sister a bit older than us, who turned out fine.

The story was that he found his birth mother in some community and she got him hooked on drugs.

It's such a shame because it is so sad for his family and friends. Suicide is never worth it no matter what.

Well done Captain Obvious.

Mad? More protein bro, u need to support those neurotransmitters.

Just saw the scott + denzel connection. Started strong but pelham 123 was pretty meh and no way i was watching some goddam run away train being saved by denzel in unstoppable. He also did domino which was pretty meh but keira knightley boobs IIRC which im sure spook will vouch makes it compulsory viewing.

Shocked to hear about this, Tony Scott was a champ, did some great films, True Romance is one of the best films of recent decades for sure. > http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/true_romance/

Unstoppable was a great film too.

I also enjoyed The Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide, Man on Fire and Deju Vu.

Plus he did loads of other favourites, like Top Gun.
