Sos, creator of the indie game McPixel, has made the unusual move of embracing thieves on the infamous torrent web site The Pirate Bay. He thanked them for their interest in the game and offered a few free passes.

Yay! My game is here! As weird as it sounds I am actually excited about this.

Sos is currently conducting a Q&A on reddit.

If it wasnt for torrents i wouldnt have many of the indie games i have now. I find a lot of them dont release demos and i really dont wanna spend the cash unless im sure they are worth it. So i DL a torrent version, play it, and if i find i want to go back to it then i mark it down to buy on steam during the next sale. The games i dont go back to just sit there until i eventually uninstall. I really cant think of any indie game that ive torrented, enjoyed and not purchased. Super meat boy, delve deeper, frozen synapse, terraria, greed corp - all I torrented, played a little then bought on steam.
