A couple days ago there was a big update to cs:go and I have since found the game pretty unplayable.

The main thing tainting my experience is a ping of over 300 both the 'find a game' servers, and the community servers (which show as low ping in the server browser thing).

Something is wrong with this thing.

I also have found that adding variety to the player models and voice commands has made it very difficult for me to follow what's going on in the game. I can't simply listen to the muffled voice of cliffe anymore, now you have a variety of phrases *similar to* the originals but not the same being uttered in a muffled voice with various different accents. And the variety of player models makes it difficult to spot your team. Before it used to be dark blue/green with headgear: CT, scruffy dudes: T. Now the T's are wearing either trendier, darker, or more military style clothes. And the CTs have less headgear, more silly or casual looking headgear, less hardcore looking uniforms, and a few more muted colours. This game requires split second decisions, and this has got me firing at my own team or staring at enemies trying to figure what the fuck they are meant to be.

Adding more realism seems like a good idea, but I'm finding it hard to adjust to.

If my ping was normal maybe I'd be learning things a bit better. But I get the shits with it and leave. It's like there are no Australian servers or something? And the servers I get connected to have more than the usual 10 players.

im happy there is a server menu... but it needs work and whats the go with servers being 10/30 ppl. and saying "full server"

I played for a couple hours since the update. I don't seem to have any more problems identifying teams than before, but fuck me a lot of retards will tk you now.

Not sure on the voices yet. take some time to adjust I guess.

As Sc00bs said use the community server list and then setup a filter to have servers from Australia with ping < 100. Then just use the max players to see what servers have people in them and you should be sweet. Please add me on steam and I can help you and anyone else out some more with it - baw76.

Yeh this is way worse in terms of just getting online and having a bash :( They've sort of done what I wanted and made the server browser stuff more obvious, but it seems they've totally demolished the "quick play" stuff for just having a solo bash around. Trying to figure out the different options now.

Again I'm having the problem where I join a community server that I supposedly have a 40-50 ping to, but when I get on there it's more like 300 :(

I've been enjoying the beta. It's very different from CS as we know it but imo not a bad thing. The worst thing is they've pretty much copy pasted the train wreck matchmaking from L4D2 and for some fucking reason it won't let me join servers using the browser.

I tried playing this today but had no luck. Couldn't connect to any servers but if I did it was arms race and the game would always crash. Full of fail.

Best option is to do this:

Click Play
Click Browse Community Servers
On the Internet Tab click Change Filters
Set Latency < 100
Set Location Australia
Should automatically refresh, if not click Quick Refresh
Click on the word Players in the table list, filtering from 0 to x number of players
Select the server and join
Profit ???

Edit: There is possibly a bug which won't allow you to join a server if it has more than 24 players.

well this is an odd bug. when i go to the game page on the steam store, it says i already own the game when i know for a fact i haven't bought it. i also got a pop up saying thanks for purchasing and that i would be getting an awp skin for tf2 sniper.

the lag spikes are horrible today ><
