I'm in, and also +1 for APC sideshow. I wouldn't mind seeing The Offspring again as I've haven't seen them since the Americana tour, haven't listened to anything they've put out in the last 10yrs though but they were pretty good live.
Have been told there is meant to be a 2nd announcement.
Every year there are at least 2, sometimes 3 lineup announcements. The last announcement usually has 1 or two artists dropping out for whatever reason (and someone else coming to fill their gap).
Sweet! Tomahawk, Kyuss Lives, Anthrax and Ghost! Can't wait. There's a second announcement which is meant to be good enough for it's own festival. Hopefully there's more metal on there.
I've seen Blink & tallica a couple times, but A Perfect Circle still stands out as one of the best live acts I've ever seen so I'm pretty tempted to go just to see them again.
Ive volunteered wriststrapping at every soundwave for free entry at around 3-4 in the afternoon. Usually ive missed heaps of cool bands that were on earlier. Doesnt seem like it will be the case this year. Going for Tomahawk and APC. The rest ive either seen or dont care to.
someone got my hopes up with tenacious d. what a let down
There's still another announcement. AJ tweeted that the 2nd announcement is good enough for a festival in itself. Apparently there's 2 more big metal bands yet to be announced and a few more smaller ones. I would love to see Crowbar or Down on that list considering Kirk is already touring. Megadeth wouldn't hurt either :P
I'd go gay for Maynard and when they mentioned Metallica on JJJ this morning then played enter sandman, i nearly fucking shit my pants in my car and cranked that mother fuck like nobodies buzineszzzzzz
I've seen Metallica at least half a dozen times and they never disappoint. I've also seen APC a couple of times as well, they are tops.
A few of the others I'd see but to be honest I would prefer a Metallica and APC side show rather then doing a festival (yeah I am old and grumpy, what of it)
No You Hang Up - how good does it feel to give out wristies to enter freely?
Really?
I wouldn't mind seeing The Offspring again as I've haven't seen them since the Americana tour, haven't listened to anything they've put out in the last 10yrs though but they were pretty good live.
Sorry.
Imagine rocking up in an Offspring t-shirt and wondering why real metalheads were openly mocking you. i couldn't let that happen, so please watch this and let's never speak of them again.
Tomahawk, Anthrax, Flogging Molly and Madball. There's a few I haven't heard, so can't comment but not setting world on fire. Lots of moronic rebranded pop music if you ask me. Where's the metal? Metallica? I guess I'd see them to say I'd seen them, but they are kinda dicks these days. APC sound ok but I'd rather SYL. Meh.
Oh and just for the record, Linkin Park are just horrible, as are Blink182, Sum 41 and the unnamed ones above. The collective grave rolling is too much for the Earth's crust. That's my opinion. If you like em, the very best of luck to you.

It's funny that you think if someone were to wear an offspring t-shirt that real metalheads would openlu mock them. Have you been to soundwave before?
This isn't Big Gay Out, everyone actually gets along. You may have the typical morons running around, but I have never seen a single fight and majority of the time people are polite.
Yes the lineup isn't as METAL as it always is but who cares? The calibre of bands is just as good as any year. To be able to get Metallica back within just 3 years rather than the typical 6-8 is credit to AJ.
I have read that AJ mentioned there's meant to be 2 big name metal bands in the 2nd announcement. Now chances are that anyone would automatically think of Slayer and Megadeth. Why you may ask, especially for those who have missed the connection.
There is already Metallica and Anthrax on the bill, if you add Slayer and Megadeth you have the BIG 4. I honestly can't see this happening but you never know what or how AJ has been able to get the bands he has. If the BIG 4 were to play at soundwave, you can hands down say it will be the greatest show Australia will ever witness.

Heh, yeah, don't actually have one of their shirts anyways, I tend to go unbranded these days but if I was to wear anything, probably would be an APC shirt as I've still got my Mer de Noms tour shirt. I would just hope that they pretty much play like Metallica and avoid playing anything they've released in the last 20yrs, or at least in the Offsprings case the last 13yrs. When I saw Metallica a couple years ago, we didn't really get much played beyond the black album which was great.

You watched the film clip right? I don't think it's just diehard metal fans who would be pointing and laughing. It would probably extend to, you know, anyone who has any taste in music whatsoever.
I'm a fan of metal, I've been to Soundwave, I know the drill. It was an exaggeration for the purposes of the joke. I don't actually expect or want anyone to get into a shouting match about it. Having said that, I do believe The Offspring deserve a punch in the face for thinking that poor excuse for a song was somehow of any value whatsoever.
People have different opinions, that's cool. Just don't support wack half-arsed, mediocre, sell out, sugar coated garbage that means nothing and requires you to do nothing but passively observe and/or join the lowest common denominator in mindlessly following some manufactured retards around like they are doing something remotely significant. Be passionate about your music and don't settle for easy listening.
Have only seen Tool, never APC so looks good to me, but being in Perth we usually miss out on side shows. Red Fang woot, Kyuss Lives original Kyuss line up? , if so thats awesome.
Volunteer for wrist strapping. Im buying my ticket for the 1st time ever, but every other year, ive been at the gates. miss some good bands, but you soon forget all about that once you're out and amongst it all around 2-3p.m I think you can put our name on some list on the mainsite somewhere. I had an insider hook up from back when i used to do the gates at the riverstage for the metal acts that played there.
Kyuss Lives original Kyuss line up? , if so thats awesome.
no nick or josh. but I flew up to sydney to see them after i missed out on tickets in melbourne (internet crashed just as sales went on ><). Best thing i've ever done. Fucking amazing live. One of the better acts i've seen.

Aw shame about Josh and Nick, but good to hear that they still crank.
Must suck to have to include slayer on your bill cause they're part of the big 4. One of the worst bands in the history of anything. Thank god Lombardo pimps himself out to other projects. Such a waste
Hopefully the big 4 will headline each stage. So will be irrelevant to me.
Megadeth used to be one of my favourite bands but ive seen them live too many times to care now. Only interested in Metallica if they play the Black album from start to finish (rumoured) as ive seen their nostalgia act.
Worship Music is a fantastic album that will be insane live so Anthrax get my vote.
Also, can't wait, I'll be travelling west to see the last of the shows, but it'll be WELL worth it. Weather and whole setup in Perth is pretty fuckin tops!
Triple M has reported that BLINK-182 will perform sidewaves in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide as part of the 2013 Soundwave Festival. Venues are still to be confirmed for the shows but dates have been locked in.
Sidewave dates
Brisbane – 22 February Melbourne – 26 February Adelaide – 6 March Sydney – 8 March
Expect Brisbane to be at the entertainment centre or if not riverstage, but my money is on entertainment centre. It will sell out fast so be ready to purchase the moment tickets go on sale.
