My brother got me onto swiftkey today and I've been using it all day, it's pretty bloody good! It's a new keyboard and autocorrect app, for those that know me I am useless with autocorrect and always have typo's. So far so good.

So jump on it

Figured I'd make this an android thread for everyone to share any cool new apps you have :)

Swype > Swiftkey in my opinion. Much, much faster typing.

The one app I've been really happy with so far on my Android Tab is Unified Remote.

It's a great media center remote, it has the basics like touch pad/mouse and keyboard but also comes with remotes for Windows Media Center, Youtube, VLC and you can access start menu, task manager and a file browser. All of this is available ad free on the free version, apparently the full version has voice control and a few other remotes but the free version has just about everything I need.

The one thing it could use is the ability to see your playlists and songs in WMP so you can fire up an album without needing a screen on to see what you were doing.

All you do is download the app and then get the server software from the website and install that on the PC you want to control.

Agreed on SwiftKey and Unified Remote. I also use Spotimote which is nice. Pocket Weather now has an Android port and it looks gorgeous, better than the shitty built-in apps or widgets that use Yahoo Weather. <3 BOM data.

Try out Mayhem, Microsoft's app that lets you make triggers to react towards certain events. I use it for my Windows phone but it's available for everyone, and is open source.

MX Player. It's simply the best video player, handles subtitles in mkv's and everything runs smooth as butter.
SManga reader. It's the best manga reader. Not available on the play store but is here: http://slideme.org/application/smanga
- It's the best because it is just a frontend to all the available manga's at about 4 english sites. So you don't need to have manga on your tablet, just have some interest in reading some. It also has the ability to download so you can view offline (handy for plane trips etc).
2X Client. Best free remote desktop app. Perfect for when you need to do something on windows, or administrate a server.

I found DICE player universally better for every type of file, and just recently they removed ads and went a donation route for their player. Too good.

I'm also using Poweramp as my music player. I got it when it was only $2.50 and it craps all over the default player in terms of options and sound quality (based on ICS player, maybe its better now in jellybean). It auto adds album art and has extensive equaliser settings.

Remote web desktop is also really good for when you're in the office/at home and want to text people via your computer. However it doesn't handle conversations that have a long history very well.

I never really got used to Swype. I love SwiftKey though.

I found this Live Wallpaper pack a few days ago, I'm really loving it.

I asked this in the other Android thread... but can anyone recommend me a voicemail app that records the messages direct to the phone rather than using the carriers system?

Disagree. MXPlayer better imo.

Agree, i paid money for it too. There's a free version but the 2.50 is worth it.

One massive reason i liked it is because i could tell it to wait for A2DP connections so it does bluetooth better with my laggy headunit. Big props there. Sounds brilliant, as good as my USB connection. Also lets you choose how your next/back buttons work on the bluetooth for folder skipping etc. Neat.

I found that MX Player couldn't play audio tracks of some mkv files (tried swapping audio tracks). Tried VLC (beta) and BS Player and the mkvs played fine. Dice Player refused to play the problem files altogether.

That Swype this appears to be standard on the galaxy S3 though no idea what it's actually called. Swiping anyway is really easy on that device and texting or typing shit is bloody awesome and the prediction / learning is pretty damn impressive.

It only took 2-3 messages of "duck off" to work out my vocabulary.

Automatically update your Facebook status to "I'm rich!" whenever Microsoft stock hits $50 a share.

I was using Mobo Player but recently bought DICE player. Only player that has been able to play back the audio from MKVs on my Xoom and SGS3.

Microsoft makes an actual scripting program for Android to automate things on your phone called on{X} that seems pretty nifty, I haven't played with it much and it's still in its infant stages so there are a lot of things it can't do, but it already has some big potential if you're programmatically inclined and like to automate stuff.
